I have an idea....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_bay

I added in the discussion page a section about the Transformers 2 response. Could someone else update the actual page. I don't want them to see my IP address updating the site with information like this.
But whoever does, make it look unbiased. We can not look like Blu-ray supporters and just relay the information with links to his site.

I hope Paramount is now realizing what they may have given up. Transformers was set to be their Spiderman money maker. They would have banked serious money on a Transformers trilogy, now... I think Paramount has some major ass kissing to do.
I always had mixed feelings about Bay as a director, but he has just earned mad respect from me. I will be purchasing Pearl Harbor (I previously had no intention of buying it) ASAP, along with all other Bay Blus...

SpielbergFilms.com

I'm going to have an article on the high def situation up on the main site later today, but I couldn't wait to share this with the die-hards in this thread. Just got the following info from Mr. Spielberg's spokesperson, Marvin Levy:

"Steven is a supporter of Blu-Ray but is not exclusive to either format. His directed films are specifically excluded from the Paramount deal."

So there's a bit of very specific clarification on where things stand for our favorite filmmaker and the future of his films in high definition. While Spielberg is not committing to either format (i.e.— perhaps we will see some or even a majority of his releases reach HD-DVD, despite his separation from the Paramount/DreamWorks deal), he stands behind Blu-ray as a format.

Knowing that, you guys really want that Blu-ray player and "Close Encounters" set this November now, don't ya?
Buy CE3K and send a message to Paramount!

Gotta love Michael Bay. My favorite Hollywood director, I've liked all his movies, especially the Bad Boys movies(Where the hell are they on Blu-ray!?).

Default Thank you Mr. Bay

Michael Bay's response has spurred me to import my very first Blu-Ray (I feel so international, hehe). Hopefully more directors will take a stand!

M. Bay already said previously that he didn't know if he would direct another TF movie.. of course money talks.. Micheal only sequel is Bad Boy 2, he never directed any other movie more than 1 time.

The Kids and the voice of optimus had signed a 3 movies deal previously.. but they'll do like Harry Potter, change the Director...

Yes, I promise I most definitely will. Clearing the shelves of Close Encounters is also an important priority. Spielberg will soon see it pays to go Blu-ray through genuine retail sales, and indeed this is a coveted, classic title ta boot. I'll buy Pearl Harbour today, and The Rock on the Sept 18 Blu-ray buy-a-thon.

Cheers.

It's more of the emotional impact of the message. It's good to see him p!ssed off. And I expect Spielberg DOES control a sequel, and we know where he stands.

Not a wise move for Paramount to anger the key people involved with their top money making product of 2007. Not good for now. Not good for the future.

How much could they potentially blow if they lose a Transformers 2? It could make $150 mil look like pocket change.

How about other big projects with Bay and Spielberg?

Let us not forget what happened: Paramount removed choice for customers. HD DVD got nothing new. Absolutely nothing. And may have lost more Spielberg support.

Gary

And we'll identify, protest and deny the scab Director who decides to take his place...

"I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No Transformers 2 for me!"

Hopefully Michael Bay's statement will speed up the format war and make it end. We already know that MS wants it to continue so that people will be like screw either format and that their download business will pick up. And hopefully the backlash that Paramount/Dreamworks is getting from their backdoor deal from consumers and obviously producers and directors will get them to reconsider their move.

...and hopefully hinging off of Bay's comments, will be some more detailed feedback from other director's like Coppola and Cameron, or other industry folks that are PO'd about the whole thing.
