Its not! It doesn't make a damn difference. This must be the 1000th thread on this type of issue. Excuse my tone and language.

Monster is like Bose I sure hope that there marketing team gets 99.9% of the profits. I am actually ashamed thet I have Monster component cables. I have 2 Belkin HDMI cables hooking up my PS3 which I over payed for them also.

You're just paying for the name Monster so you can brag to all your friends and they can laugh at you behind your back.

I'm sure it's possibly true that one cable is just as good as the next but, your only on the rock on time so you better make the most of it while you can. if you think it will sound better and you will sleep better at night then buy it. sometimes we do buy the cheaper but some of us live with regret or always have that doubt that they did the wrong thing. I own 2 not expensive HDMI cables. I also own some monster cables, the M1000 class HDMI cables, 4 of them to be exact and yes they are expensive but, I have no regrets about spending the money because I believe I have piece of mind with them that I'm getting possibly the best picture signal I can get. Is that the gospel truth, am I getting the best picture, don't have scientific data to back it up but, i believe i am with what i know. buy them or don't my issue here is don't live with regret! Funny you never hear the driver of a car saying give me the cheapest seatbelts and airbags you've got, or a policeman saying don't you have a cheaper bullet proof vest than this. I'm not saying you need so spend tons of money but you've got to satisfy yourself beyond all else. I also wish I had some stock in Monster!

The difference is that when tested, cheap seatbelts and airbags are provably worse. That's not the case with an HDMI cable. Either the digital data gets through, or it doesn't (because the cable is faulty).

If you want to spend extra money because Monster's marketing tells you to, be my guest. Don't go telling others to do the same simply because you're too lazy to do any research.

If you don't want to go the Monoprice or BJC route, try Costco or Sam's. You can get a 12ft HDMI cable for like $30, I think they're Philips cables.

I'll put anyone of my $3 monoprice 6' HDMI cables up agianst any $100+ Monster HDMI cables any day of the week, & not only in A/V but build quality too. I'll bet my 9G KURO that my HDMI cables don't "fall apart" like monster owners try to say cause that's all they have left to argue about as to why they dropped big bucks for a cable that's worth $10 (maybe)...

To the OP. Besides the massive amounts of hate, you should get the same performance as long as the cables you buy can pass the BW that 1080p requires.

And to the poster who said Monster=Bose, the similarities end at the marketing department.

FYI, seatbelts and airbags often go to the lowest OEM bidder.

Think about that for a while.

I have both a Monster HDMI and monoprice and there is ZERO difference in quality from my PS3 or my cablebox to my 52" Samsung LCD. NONE, NADA, ZIP!!! Monster cost me like $80 something (back before this awesome website), the other cost me like $3. I swear I'm gonna start picketing outside of Best Buy. Buy yourself like 3-4 blu-rays, and buy monoprice.

Tests have shown Wire Hangers and Monster Cable perform the same.

However,... Monster Cable Brand Wire Hangers are superior if costly.

There is no difference besides the price tag that comes with the monster cable.

It is good that you're happy with your purchase, but the scientific data is there to peruse and it shows that there is no difference in performance with current media.
