Chappelle was comedy gold from around 98-06. Half Baked is definitely a 'classic' and holds up with repeated viewings and so do the standup specials from that era and Chappelle's Show. Haven't really been into him since he left his show, although there have been the occasional glimpses of brilliance. One of the last truly funny things I remember from him was his appearance on Inside the Actors Studio where he was both an engaging orator and naturally a funny guy with quick wit and improv.

It was so much fun. I've never seen the TV show, but after watching the first movie I placed an order with Amazon for Series Three (I usually hate the first season of most shows, so I start in the middle). The first movie is violent, sexy, inappropriate, and totally dated. Everyone smokes, drinks, and walks on orange-patterned carpet, or shag carpet, or has bathroom walls with weird blue 1970s designs on them, or has a horrible 1970s haircut, or looks like they fell out of the 'Sabotage' video. The movie has scenes that are shocking, surprising, and unexpected. It is FUN. I listened to the commentary track for the film and knew I wanted to buy one of the TV seasons, and they're all inexpensive on Amazon. Can't wait to watch SWEENEY 2 while trying to avoid the coronavirus!
I loved both films and now am wanting to import the Network TV Series DVD.

I recognize that the studios will still hold OCNs and IPs of films now in the public domain. The studio materials will still most likely be the best for scanning, for which studios expect a fee.

Still, the presence in the marketplace of discs produced from PD prints could reduce demand for studio material. Does this softness in demand depress studio prices for their materials, which would be to KL's advantage and let you do more?

Looking further forward in time, I wonder what the market will be in 15 years (2035) when all of the material from the 1920s and 1930s is PD and perhaps widely available via low cost public domain discs. Will the market still support a business releasing high-quality movies on blu-ray from the 1920s/1930s?

Kino announced on Twitter they have been working on a Glauber Rocha project for years, but it's been held up and hope to have news soon.

And Kino, if this includes the films he did in Europe, I will love you forever!

KLI,

Any further update on "Clockwise"? Is it still set for summer? Anything more specific?

Thanks.

Half Baked is one I’ve been waiting a long time for. I figured we’d get it soon after Universal jumped to Blu-ray, but nope.

This is the last time I order directly from Kino.

It's been 5 days and my order says "new". Lousy service.

I placed my pre-orders for the April released this morning from the Kino Lorber Studio Classics site. I’m skipping many titles, but still ordered a good batch of desired movies.

If, like me, you tend to pre-order for the next month, then I would encourage you to continue doing so during the coronavirus crisis as long as you are able. The small businesses and boutique labels need some love now more than ever.

Try ordering earlier in the sale before they get overloaded with orders. I ordered the first day and got mine 4 days later.

If they can't match demand or run a business effectively, they should get out of business.

My order arrived yesterday. Watched Cadillac Man. Forgot how much fun that movie was... I also picked up Running Scared, a movie I've enjoyed but never owned since I was a kid. Same with Solarbabies. I'm glad to finally add some 80s movies that I watched with family as a youngster. Rounded out the order with Wanted: Dead or Alive, The Pit, Roommates, The Master, Tuff Turf, Straight Talk, Nightmare Beach, and more. Great sale, Kino!

There are already several movies of more recent vintage available on PD discs and most collectors already avoid those like the plague, why would it be any different once 1930s movies fall into that category?

Stop being silly. Things happen, stuff sells out. That happens with all businesses. If you can't exercise a little patience at times, you should get out of buying things online.

I would not like that to much as they are my lifeline for 1920's thru 1940's movies. If you are talking 1990's or newer I don't care if all the companies go out of business with that shit especially the low budget b movie horror flicks. God that is awful stuff. I have to leave my house if my wife watches that sleep away camp garbage or anything vampire related.

With that attitude, she probably watches them on purpose to get rid of you.

It's likely due to an item on backorder.
I ordered the 10th and 11th. First order shipped yesterday and second will likely ship today. They have fine service. Maybe have a little patience.

You don't nothing about my wife or my life so I would appreciate you leave your personal comments to yourself. I doubt you would say anything to my face like that since I am 300 pounds 52 years old and can still bench press 500 pounds. I could kick your ass up and down the street you little punk.
