Do we think this is true? I highly doubt it! It will be the last time it receives a resolution upgrade on physical media, but it will still be re-released.
This whole thing looks like another "test of physical media" from a major studio. They put out this fatty, expensive set into a niche market (4K) and they'll run those first week numbers to see how many mega fans bought the set. If it's a lot, they may consider re-releasing them again in another set, on another format (8K) or something.

Problem is: a lot of the mega fans (myself included) don't see this as a viable upgrade. Since the 4K versions are already on Disney+, only collectors and mega fans will buy this, shortening the sales numbers and making it seem like the general public doesn't care about physical media. Also, you have the virus, which is causing people to be out of work - people who probably would buy this if they weren't out buying $250 worth of toilet paper and food and trying to keep a roof over their heads.

Disney will say to themselves: "Let's keep pumping content onto our constant moneymaking streaming service instead of wasting money on blu ray production!"

There may be even less fans buying this because the unaltered Original Trilogy isn't included. Why spend $250 on a box set of films that are on a streaming service, and aren't even the correct versions (OT)? I tell you, if the unaltered OT was available in this box set, I'd have no problem putting $250 down. In fact, I'd do it in a heartbeat. This box set is a cheap test for Disney. They're simply testing the physical media market and they are going to get the notion that the public doesn't care about physical media, so, yeah, this might be the last time these are released on disc.

You said that's all the bonus disks, does that mean only the Prequels have Bonus disks?

There won't be an 8K physical media format. No studio has shown any interest in it. I think they'll re-release the 4K versions again in different packaging. Will the unaltered versions be released officially again? No. I think this will be the last hurrah in terms of content.

I'm still in two minds about it. I must have ordered and cancelled this thing 9 times. On the one hand I think it's mad to buy this when the films are on Disney+, on the other hand the bitrates are far higher on disc. But will I really watch them enough to justify the price? Probably not! Yet it would be cool to have all nine films in a set. Ugh, this release is driving me crazy!

I called my Best Buy and they confirmed I will be able to do the curbside pick-up next Tuesday. So not a complete store shut-down.

I would not be surprised if they actually did re-transfer them in HD, but just didn't bother including them.

Thought I read somewhere that Disney had digitized the Lucasfilm archives. Considering how little new stuff they've bothered to include for the first six movies, God knows what for. But they seem to dig up lots of cool, previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the original trilogy and show it at Comic Con or Celebration, or edit it into the Rise of Skywalker features.

Nice, finally see the Toche' station scene. Hopefully, it's the full one.
Here's hoping the cantina rough cut has only Han shooting! LOL
Also hope to see the Han & Prostitute segment in the Cantina Scene!

Something I've noticed with the new 4K transfers on Disney+ is how well the new CGI footage blends in with the old footage. It was always painfully obvious before and stood out a mile, now all the footage, new and old, seems to blend together. C-3PO has never been so detailed! All the muck on his head and the dint's and dents etc....

Can you confirm the presence of the 20th logo at the beginning of the original 6 films on 4K disc?
