Gamestop has the Eye of Judgement release date set for 10/1/07 at $59.99. This includes the mat, starter cards, and the EyeToy. Since WotC is producing the cards, I'd guess they'll run the about same price as Magic cards.

$60.00 doesn't sound like a bad price. I didn't think that we would spend over $100.00 for the camera. Is there a photo of what the retail box is going to look like. I haven't seen it up close yet.

8 maximum.

If we keep getting all these devices, we'll have to eventually get USB devices.
Ecspecially if you have 4 controllers (pretty rare with online gaming now), headset, remote, etc, etc.
The EyeToy is USB only.

If you want to free up a slot, you can disengage your Bluetooth devices like keyboard, mice and headset.

8 including the PS3 itself, 7 other bluetooth devices can be connected to the PS3.

The current bluetooth spec doesn't have the bandwidth necessary for PlayStation Eye's uncompressed A/V. Battery life (unless the camera was huge with a large battery) would be crippling.

The eye camera was always the reason a Wii didn't grab me that much...this was much a more interesting and natural way to connect people to the "phenomana" going on inside a game.

And it also provides video/audio chatting etc, take pictures and videos, and possibly a remote security camera with the PSP remote play..positional audio included and filtering of background "noise" as well.

I'm curious as to how the camera will grow in terms of what you can do with it. What you're saying is absolutly correct about what you can do with the camera. Do you think that by adding the camera as an accessory with the ps3 will boast sales of the console? I think so.

It broadens the appeal on multiple fronts so yes. Few examples..

1. All those folks that are into card games like Eyes of Judgement will have one console choice at this point - a PS3.

2. Given 1..will something like Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit embrace this technology and maybe even extend those traditional games in new ways. IF that were to happen it would be huge from a "casual" gamer perspective.

3. Allowing more freedom and flexibility and direct interaction than the Wii wand is potentially a big deal from a marketing perspective..it would be possible to make the Wii look "hokey" in comparison..taking some of the current "cool" shine off and redirecting it to the PS3.

4. The reaching "inside" your t.v. and effecting the objects in a game has so much potential it's scary IMO. This is the most exciting part to me..from an innovation perspective and widening the market one as well.

What was the PS2 game (before the EyeToy came out) where you could hook up certain models of PC webcam and it would detect you leaning, possibly ducking? The technology wasn't nearly as acurate at detecting your position back then but now I'm sure it's quite capable of being integrated into a big-budget game like.. John Woo's Stranglehold.

Wonder if they will be able to surface this for the XMB navigation. Given the modularity of the system I'd say it's at least a possibility...

There's a Trials of Topoq thread (that no-one's replied to!) but no Aqua Vita or Operation Creature Feature specific threads I can think of. Don't hold back waiting for me to make them!

Could be a good addition for the disabled or those that are too lazy to move their arse and pick up a controller/remote but I like my perfectly responsive SIXAXIS dpad for XMB navigation.

This is the right thread..it's more the concept in action than the games themselves. I'm just a bit excited because this is EXACTLY what I was hoping it would turn out to be..the freedom to use your body to interact..the Eye of Judgement hinted at it but this confirms it's quite sophisticated.

Removing that controller barrier is revolutionary to me.

If SCEI created a NEW interface to optionally replace the XMB if you have a PS Eye camera attached, now that could speed up navigation.
