Default War of the Colossal Beast (1958) coming from Scream Factory

Quote:
SHE WANTED ONLY TO FIND HER BROTHER ALIVE ... BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.

After Colonel Glenn Manning survived an experimental plutonium blast that triggered his mutation into a seventy-foot giant, everyone believes he plunged to death from the top of Boulder Dam. Everyone, that is, except for his sister, Joyce. She is convinced that her brother is alive. Joyce sets out to find her brother in the mountains of Mexico ... but she is unprepared for the full truth. Her brother is hideously disfigured now ... and very angry. When he is captured by the authorities, the Colossal Beast escapes to wreak havoc on Los Angeles!

I'd say it's right "up there" with THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN, THE CYCLOPS, and ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN.

Hopefully, Scream's BD will have the color climax for COLOSSAL BEAST.

But it deserves its place in the Keep Watching the Skies! 1950s Sci-Fi and Horror on Blu-ray thread, right?

One of the greatest "creature" reveals. Love this movie. Unlike The Cyclops the make up special effect is awesome (and hideous). The sound effects used for Manning are creepier than hell.

Got a soft spot for this big goof....
a double bill with both films would have been too big for 1 jewel case I guess.

Yeah would have loved a double bill, but not sure if Susan Hart has struck a deal with Scream yet for ACM.

As a kid I LOVED seeing this on Creature Double Feature.
ACM was a fun sci-fi flick, but I loved WOCB because even as a kid I was shocked they went the horror route with his messed up face and creepy "voice".
Always thought that makeup was excellent.

Yep, I remember first watching this paired with THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN back in the day on channel 56 on a Saturday afternoon - of course, many a Saturday was spent in front of the TV watching Creature Double Feature in my formative years!

I do recall an editd-down version of this being available back in the '70s when I collected Super 8 as a kid - would be great if that Super 8 short was one of the supplements, as Scream has provided them on some titles in the past.

Did manage to find this from '76, check out the bottom of the page on the right.

I hope this includes the MST3K version. The line "Has anyone seen Glen?" makes me laugh every time.

I spent many a Saturday afternoon in the 1970s as a teenager glued to the TV set watching "Creature Double Feature", which is where I became acquainted with the Colossal Man films.

I never knew until decades later that the Creature Double Feature theme song was a tune by Emerson, Laker and Palmer

I always thought it was an original theme!

I didn't know that about the theme song, I thought the theme was created by the station. But anyway, I heard there was a real freewheeling hippie rock-n-roll attitude at Channel 56 in the '70s, so I'm not surprised to learn an ELP song was used.

When I was a little kid in the 1960's and could seize any opportunity to somehow, someway, whatever it took, get my hands on a FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine, I would spend hours with it poring over and over again all the pics, breathlessly dreaming about those movies I wished, hoped and prayed I might someday see. Everything seemed so out of the realm of my childhood possibilities, but I continued my dreams and never gave up on trying to make them come true. Television played its part as much as possible in consistently feeding my imagination, but my greed knew no bounds and there was always stuff that remained...out of reach. Well, flash forward 50+ years and guess what? I am finally living the dream!

I wish someone would release Amazing Colossal Man. Why would they keep releasing the sequel when no one released the original. SHout Factory, if you are listening, please release the original. I wish they would have done both movies together!!!

Susan Hart controls ACM, along with I was a Teenage Werewolf, Invasion Of The Saucer Men and others fans always wonder what happened to and why they haven't been released.

She is intractable. No one can pry these out of her.
