If theaters open before a vaccine or very safe and highly effective cure they will see very poor business (at least 40% loss, probably a lot more). If they open after (one hopes for an after), they will do incredible business. I think this won't kill movie going on at all, people will be thirsting to head out. The latter may not be until say maybe spring 2021?

When a vaccine is finalized (and that WILL happen) and people know a simple shot or pill will keep them safe from the virus (like the all the previous times things like this have happened before)...people will certainly feel confident going back into crowed theaters, etc. How silly to think so negatively and believe this is the end of the movie theater experience.
EDIT: LOL...the above guy beat me to the same point! |

Times like these are exactly what having a film collection/library are for!

None of this btw should make consumers feel anxious about receiving packages if they can understand the likelihood of exposure and how to decontaminate things if desired. Just having enough information to make informed decisions is key. Last edited by Pans; 04-03-2020 at 01:41 AM. |

It is not racist to call it the China corona virus. I have stated this before in the actual Corona thread. It is however racist to target Chinese people.
This thread should actually be merged with that thread as well as it has no reason to even be in the 4K thread to begin with. |

Hmm... some postings disappeared. Hopefully the earlier postings were deleted as well, and they weren't cherry picked. People are so strange these days - being offended simply because they feel someone else might be offended. Especially when it happens to simply involve how one person chooses to interpret something. Aaaanyways... I just hope this pandemic doesn't harm the future of physical media. And for those who might get upset, that's not placing movies before everything else. One can be concerned about many things at once. Like my retirement, employment, the strength of the U.S. dollar, whether the Snyder Cut gets released, etc.

and none of those guidelines account for the fact that many pre-releases get shipped overnight mail these days or that someone with Corona may the mailer sorter at your local branch or the delivery man in which case it can be just a few hours to minutes when it got exposed to the virus (and, while one hopes it was an extraordinarily rare event, they had some videos on the news showing a delivery man spitting on each package as he dropped it off and then smearing it all over with his hands, granted one would hope that is like a 1 in 10,000 chance) |

My attitude is always to be cautious, but not worry. I wear gloves and lightly wash all of my packages and other mail but I'm never going to stop ordering plenty of items.
If people are avoiding ordering items because they are worried about getting sick, what are they doing with the rest of their mail? |

I’m not overly concerned about future disc releases, part of me is glad there is only a few releases I want between now and June 2. That’s kinda my own buying shutdown day. With such a uncertain time currently I’m strictly buying my personal must haves. Bad Boys, Birds of Prey, and Watchmen. Possibly The Outsider. There’s a couple other titles I’d like but they’ll be there down the road.

We have a local drive in and it is going pretty strong. It helps they have really good burgers as well. But people really love this drive in.
Also I don't think this will hurt future blu rays. While I can see the virus getting people to stream more because they are inside. I believe that companies will still release bd's because people like us still buy them. |
