I gave Scorpion’s BD of "Omega Syndrome" a spin and found it to be an extremely satisfying 80s B-action movie. Ken Wahl plays alcoholic reporter Jack Corbett (I swear half the protagonists in 80s B-crime/action movies are alcoholics named Jack), a widower whose daughter (Nicole Eggert) is kidnapped by a gang of vicious neo-nazis, led by a psychotic Xander Berkeley. Wahl must enlist the help of an estranged buddy from 'Nam (George DiCenzo) to track down the Josef Mengele enthusiasts who have captured his daughter.

The film is buoyed by a decent script and an above-average cast, as Wahl and DiCenzo provide steady performances and Berkeley proves his character actor bona fides with a completely over-the-top performance. One of my favorite minor parts of the film is a young Colm Meaney, totally out of place, as an explosives expert who’s rolling with the neo-nazis but wants nothing to do with their ideology. It would be like dating a woman who’s an escort who also makes great cookies and saying to her, “Hey, I don’t want anything to do with the escorting, I’m just here for the cookies.”

Scorpion’s BD looks and sounds sensational, truly a job well-done. “Omega Syndrome” just checks a lot of the boxes you want from this type of movie and it’s an easy recommend when you can find it at a decent price.

I was thinking about this myself... He lives in Seattle, an area hit pretty hard by this pandemic.

Perhaps one of us whom have Facebook could send him a message? I don't have FB, or I would have....

Obsession and fate collide in one of the most controversial, provocative films ever made. The arrival of rugged American sailor Jim (Kris Kristofferson, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, Vigilante Force) brings joy and sensual fulfillment to English widow Anne Osborne (Sarah Miles, Ryan’s Daughter, Steaming), but her young son is disturbed by this new intruder and joins in with a perverse group of fellow students. With its disturbing ending and frank love scenes, this stylish adaptation of the novel by legendary writer Yukio Mishima has become a timeless classic. Screenplay and direction by Lewis John Carlino (The Great Santini), cinematography by Douglas Slocombe (Raiders of the Lost Ark) and music score by Johnny Mandel (M*A*S*H).

I remember Walt getting excited about acquiring The Sailor who fell from grace with the sea. Saying it was a favorite of his. Can't wait! The Shout Factory release is atrocious!

Always recall when this came out end of high school and there was a Playboy pictorial on the movie.
Made it must see material,
although I did not actually see it until a year later on HBO freshman year @ college.

I just watched RAW COURAGE, great movie but what happened to the interview with Ronny Cox? The back cover mentions it but it's not there.

It's one of those instances where I really wish there was an enlightening commentary, but I guess no one involved with the film was available.

Oh, the DVD? Hmm weird, it's definitely on the Blu-ray though. It's a pretty good Interview too. I don't see any reason why it would be excluded from the DVD release. The film itself is only 90 minutes, and the Interview is not extremely lengthy itself.
