4 things.
1- that's amazing
2- where do you get clear cases?
3- what program did you use to design these?
4- did you print them on regular paper, plastic paper, or what?

So even if Fox were the ones releasing these existing 4K transfers on behalf of LFL I'm not sure that they would've looked a whole heck of a lot different...short of carrying out brand new 4K restorations but then that wouldn't have been Fox's call anyway.
Yeah, I didn’t mind some of the Bonds, most actually still look pretty good but these never sat right with me. I’m not a complete Lowry hater lol. Is it confirmed that these are the same masters as the BD’s? Sounds like they just slapped SDR into and HDR container. I haven’t been here much lately so I’m not up to speed. I’m fine with subdued HDR. I’m more concerned about color, crush and clipping, and of course grain.

True about FOX not having a say. I wish they did though. Predator and Die Hard are still in my top picks for the format because I’ve seen them countless times on each format excluding LD. The UHD’s were a revelation to my eyes. If the OT received the same treatment as those 2 I probably would have shed tears of joy.

I should reserve judgment until I watch them but I can’t help but go into the set jaded. Who knows maybe I’ll love them. I hope I’m wrong.

Lowry did the 2004 HD remaster of the OT which was used on the DVDs and then the BDs, with some extra tweakage obvs.

But in 2012 Lowry did a new 4K restoration of the OT and it's that which we're finally seeing on these new discs.

Amazing stuff but I'm curious about one thing: why in the world would you include 'digital copy' in the banner? Presumably you've redeemed or sold them, and it's not like you'll be selling the discs with these covers either so it makes zero sense to me to feature that on the cover. Just adds unnecessary clutter to some otherwise stunning covers.

I don't know how The Empire Strikes Back will look in motion but by the look of your pictures it seems like they were heavily processed.

Though even the DD embed on Blade Runner is a downmix of the new mix which pisses me off
I tried two things with the Blade Runner UHD BD audio track. One was setting the player up to output plain 7.1 PCM channels, and still didn't downmixed right to 5.1, and the other was to run a coaxial S/PDIF cable from the player to my Pioneer receiver to get the old school lossy Dolby Digital mix and it didn't work either as it sounded like a downmixed version of the Dolby Atmos track. Why didn't Warner Bros. used the Dolby Digital track from the 2007 BD that sounded fine on 5.1 set ups?

Those look great! That might have been a game changer for me if they offered it for the whole set.

The problem disappeared and the disc played normal after I ejected it and started it again.

The same thing happened this morning with The Empire Strikes Back, but, once again, the disc played normally when I ejected it briefly and restarted it.

Whatever it is, it does not appear to be anything serious. Maybe just a quirk with the discs. I dunno.

Aside from the above strange phenomenon, the discs are looking and working great.
I have now watched the individual combo packs of all three films of the Original Trilogy, as well as The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, and I have noticed the above phenomenon on all of the 4K discs.

I put the 4K disc in, go to the menu to check it out, then push "Play Movie", and I noticed the mild light pulsation on the screen just before the 20th Century Fox logo, during the dark transition between the Fox logo and the Lucasfilm logo, and during the dark transition between the Lucasfilm logo and the "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...." words.

When I briefly eject the 4K disc and immediately start it back up again, the above-mentioned dark transitions look normal and everything looks normal. Likewise, if I just keep playing the disc past the "A long time ago...." without ejecting it, everything looks normal after that point.

It's apparently nothing tragic, but it's just strange.

I'm still curious to see if anyone else notices this on their discs.

My 4K player and my 4K television are both up to date.

For those reluctant to pull the trigger: I sold off my packaging with the Blu-rays and Bonus discs for half...then I sold my older Blu-rays of the OT and 2 installments of the New trilogy for $10.00 a piece. So all 9 4K films cost me a grand total of like $65.00
Yeah but now you no longer have the packaging which surely is the main reason to buy these for a collector. Otherwise you might as well just watch them on Disney+ considering that reviewers have said there's little difference.

I want the discs too (obviously) but I wouldn't buy them without the packaging.

Once I opened the box, I tried to pull the book out using the ribbon. However, as soon as I tugged on the ribbon, it just started unraveling. The tip of the ribbon now has almost an inch of frayed ends!

I haven't even gotten to the discs yet, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to see plenty of scratches. I just hope I don't have any duplicate discs.
To Best Buy employees, the box is just packaging (like the cardboard box your TV comes in). Who cares what condition it's in? And scratches on a disc? That's OK too. They'll still play.
As I said above, the packaging is the main reason to buy this super expensive boxset, otherwise I might as well wait for the individual releases.

I'm sorry yours arrived in poor condition and now I'm worried mine will be the same. Silver scratches is unacceptable for the price, but there's no way I'm heading out to the Post Office (as a vulnerable person) to return it.

Maybe the CGI is dated in Episode 1? I meant the new CGI shots blend in with the older footage now (in the OT.)

How bright is the flashing? Is it different shades of black?

I find my TV will mildly pulse between darker shades as it transitions between menus, and dark scenes like the logo screens, title crawls, and such. I just don't recall if I've experienced this with Star Wars. However, I suspect it's a TV setting. It might help to check the dynamic contrast settings--I believe that will change the black levels as scenes change. Not sure if other things (like HDR) affect this as well.

Not looking good for us lot in the UK. Amazon just sent me an email delaying one of my preorders for Monday. The email states the preorder is secure but they have no idea when they will deliver the item. Looks like it may happen later this month with Star Wars too.

Thanks Disney for making this the only way to buy the first 7 Star Wars films in the UK (unless we import). /s

Amazon are still delivering at the moment. The set might be delayed but I hope not, as it gives me more time to change my mind

I wish the films had been released with nine individual cases inside a box, like the Harry Potter release. With each SW movie having the poster art. The big book looks decent enough but it could have been better. Cardboard sleeves suck.

Is this set better than Fox's Complete Saga set from 2011?? Other than the obvious? Like special feature wise...

I think it was you who mentioned that running it as PCM made it sound more balanced, no? In any case it worked alright for me (this is back when I was running surround sound, natch) as it didn't so horribly boomy and overcooked. The new sound effects are still there though, so I've had to revert to a custom remux with the previous 5.1 mix to get my fix.

It's kinda crappy that virtually right after the Blade Runner debacle Warners started including OG 5.1 tracks alongside their Atmos shite. If it took the nerdcry over Blade Runner to get the amazing 70mm split-surround mix for Superman The Movie then it was worth it, it's just a shame that Blade Runner had to be the one to precipitate it.

There's really nothing new, except that the digital extras from 2015 are now on the discs. I would definitely hold on to the three bonus discs from the 2011 set,
especially disc 3, as Making of Star Wars and Special F/X TESB did not port over.
