Glad this and his Short Films Collection are coming. After those, still waiting on releases for: "After Hours" "Bringing Out the Dead" "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" and "Who's That Knocking At My Door?" from Scorsese; "She's Having a Baby", "Curly Sue" and upgrades to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", "Uncle Buck" and "Planes and Trains and Automobiles" from Hughes; "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", "Stage Fright" and "Secret Agent" from Hitchcock; "Dracula, Dead and Loving It" from Brooks and "Ladykillers" from The Coen Brothers.

Since they have Roma available on disc, then I’m gonna say, yes.

I know people are getting squirrelly about Criterion and 4K, and I know that many people have already shrugged about this release, to the effect of, "Why even bother; it's on Netflix," etc.
But I have to say, as a person who refuses to get Netflix, who had to impose on family to see this movie at all, and who has very much wanted to see this movie again since November, I'm over the moon about this. Remember that moment in another De Niro movie when he reminds Stan that "this is this"; getting a Criterion release of the new Scorsese, a movie that otherwise might not have received a physical release at all, is a good thing. Try not to let the 4K reluctance colour your response to "this" too much. |

I'd say no. Granted, I never finished the movie... but I got halfway through and decided to find something else. I love Goodfellas and the majority of films by Scorsese but this was painfully boring. I couldn't bring myself to endure 3 and a half hours of something I felt like I'd already seen. Maybe someday I'll get around to finishing it, but I'd rather just put on Goodfellas.

Flawed and not one of Scorsese's very best but captivating and once you're in Marty's world with stars DeNiro, Pacino and Pesci, it's a very comfortable place to be. I'll be picking this one up for sure. Personally I found it more inviting than Casino but nowhere near as tight as Goodfellas.

Forget the director. If you have an interest in organized crime or the Mob, especially films that are based off real people and events, then you will absolutely love this film. I can't wait to purchase it and add it to my collection with the other great Mob films i own like The Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco, A Bronx Tale, and Gotti '96.

In my opinion, yes. This is a bittersweet, reflective, and very personal movie that full-on isn't a glamorous look of crime life in any aspect (an aspect people have criticized Scorsese for in the past, though I don't agree). The sense of finality fills the entire film and while that makes it a slow burn, it also makes it an engaging one. The movie feels like a confession and all the pain, regret, and sorrow that entails. It's absolutely brilliant.
