Because their competitors (in this case Target) has it for $29. Amazon doesn’t lower their prices unless their competitors give them reason to do so.

If there’s other SF titles you’re looking for, you should just buy $50 worth of stuff from SF direct and get free shipping.

It always amazes me when teachers show dumb Hollywood movies in class as if they are some sort of legitimate teaching tool. I remember being in a law class in Grade 12 and they showed And Justice For All, as if Al Pacino screaming "You're out of order, you're out of order, you're ALL out of order!" is any kind of actual representation of what goes on in a court room.

I pre-ordered on amazon.ca the day it was listed (this is what I typically try to do), then you get any of the price drops locked in along the way. Mine ended up locking in at $24.99 CAD. More expensive than I'd like to pay, especially for a non-collectors edition. Still sitting at that price if it makes sense for you to order from there, not familiar with what that looks like with shipping, etc.

The ones that I have heard are worth showing is the shoot/retreat scene from Heat and the courtroom proceedings in My Cousin Vinny.

I've seen it several times. It took me couple of times to "get it", but I like it a lot. Morricone's odd score in this is really good.

Target also has a B2G1 sale going on which Bones is a part of. If you have anything else you want... (Pre-orders for Tales from the Darkside and Thirteen Ghosts Perhaps?) then it's worth grabbing all 3 as Target only charges for each title as it ships. I myself grabbed Tales from the Darkside, Thirteen Ghosts, and Prophecy for $52 shipped (about $17 a piece).

Thanks for the tip! I essentially just canceled all of my Amazon preorders in order to take advantage of this deal with Target. I get that the preauthorization will fall off in a few days, but I assume when the “free” titles ship out there’s just no charge sent back through? It’s a bit unnerving the receipt doesn’t show $0 for any titles but just a total purchase discount.

You'll actually receive 3 charges (one for each movie assuming they all ship separately) but the price will be adjusted on each title to account for the free one. So for instance my order earlier this year for My Bloody Valentine ($28.99), April Fools Day ($27.96) and Deadly Manor($29.49) rang up as $86.44 before discount. With the B2G1 discount my total was 62.56 at the time of purchase. The break down ended up being $20.98, $21.34, and $20.24 for each title as they shipped.

Target will re-authorize the amount every two weeks, deducting whatever has already shipped until all titles have shipped. So in the end you'll end up paying a discounted amount but you will continue to see holds on your account until all titles ship. The pre-authorization charge will not fall off until titles start to ship. They do this to ensure you have the funds available.

In a nutshell, it all works out in the end if you budget for each title during the month it releases.

Damn. They’re gonna be holding funds over me through August. Lol I’d rather they just take it all now. I ordered 9 titles, 7 were preorders. Oh well. Thanks for the lowdown, though.

They've been all over the place recently - both Return of the Living Dead and The Thing Collector's Edition dropped to $13.something. (I noticed very shortly after, Return shot back up to around $29.) When I saw that, I snagged ROTLD but didn't have any money left for The Thing (plus, I just picked up Universal's disc and it's not bad). And then they offered me a coupon for Tales from the Hood: Collector's Edition for more than $4 off and I TOOK IT and ran.

So... Sale Season? What's up?

Who has time to watch the bonus features anymore? I almost never do.

I remember To Kill a Mockingbird and Spartacus. Probably more as well but just don't remember now. Always liked movie days in school

I was trying to search for titles on the Shout Factory site and every search I try comes up empty. Is there some kind of trick to get search results that I am missing. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Seems to work fine for me atm. Maybe try using a different browser. They have a good auto populate system as well. So after typing the first word or two it should pop up below the search bar.

Just got Captain Kronos. I'm actually very excited to give this one a go.
One of the Hammer titles I hadn't even heard of before seeing the Scream Factory announcement.

I first saw Captain Kronos just a couple years ago. I thought it was kind of middle-of-the-road Hammer. Not bad, not great, but I liked it. I look forward to seeing it again. The copy I saw was pretty poor and sometimes revisiting a movie with simply a clearer image can do wonders. (That happened to me with Prom Night.)
