I think it was yesterday (?) on KOB4 news . . .

And now the Traffic Report. "State Police are reporting a stopped car in the breakdown lane on I-25 southbound near Montgomery."

I think many of us are in the frame of mind that we have to understand we have to temporarily give up some of our rights to get through this.

At first, I thought I read 'Soon we'll start “temporary internet”.' So, I am relived it wasn't that. Poor NYC. Housing people in high density is not working out in the 21st Century.

At least he is still conscious while he is not using a ventilator at this time. Most of the responsibilities are now been handed over to Dominic Rabb who his is Foreign Secretary. He is getting treatment at St. Thomas's Hospital in London which is located near to the House of Parliament. He was getting oxygen treatment while he was admitted to it by ambulance at 8 p.m. last night. I don't know if the lungs are now causing him trouble when he got the fever symptoms for the past few days while he was in self-isolation in No.10 Downing Street. I wish him well anyway of his politics.

Key Coronavirus Model Now Predicts Many Fewer U.S. Deaths

Quote:
A Sunday update of a prominent COVID-19 forecasting model suggests that fewer lives will be lost during the first wave of the coronavirus outbreak than previously thought.

The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) now predicts that 81,766 people will die of COVID-19 in the U.S. through early August. When the model was last updated, on April 2, it predicted 11,765 deaths more deaths, for a total of 93,531.
Quote:
One thing that didn’t change between the April 2 and April 5 models is the projected date of the outbreak’s peak. The model still predicts an April 16 apex for the daily COVID-19 death rate. Hospital use is expected to peak on April 15.

Gotcha. I understand both sides here.

On one hand a generic drive to nowhere seems a perfectly safe way to get out of the house, and it's respectful to any social distance regulations. For mental health, it's a chance to be somewhere besides home, enjoy fresh air, scenery, and distract yourself with music or podcasts. It's also a good idea to get your vehicle up and running every now and then if you have to hunker down for several months.

But on the flip side joyriding is non-essential recreation. Intoanewlife brought up an excellent point I hadn't considered. It's always possible one could end up in an accident, and that sets off a chain of events that could involve any number of individuals and efforts, potentially using scarce resources for a person who "was bored" or "just felt like driving."

So yea...everything blows

What if a Deer or Bear runs in front of your vehicle? What if you blow a tire and lose control?

We've had a shelter in place order in Kansas City for over two weeks now. I go the office each morning (just me and an accountant) while everyone else works from home.

In KC, we were told the police would not stop anyone for the sole purpose of verifying why and where they are going. If you get stopped for a traffic violation, they will ask why and where you are going.

I've been given a letter by our owner explaining my need to go to and from the office. I'd be curious what would happen, if I got pulled over.

Things will go into total and utter meltdown if he doesn’t pull through. The panic has been ridiculous before this.

Personally, I think he will be ok.

Don't expect those limitations to be so temporarily. I suspect many limitations will stand long after the virus is no longer the threat it is currently portrayed to be. The freedom of assembly has already been illegalized here. It's hard to see the storm when you're in the middle of it.
