There is no way that he was watching a $200 HD DVD player because those $200 pieces of shit are 1080i.

He either was paid off to say it or Toshiba or some chump showed him one of their $500 1080p's OR he has no idea what he is talking about!

GAAHHH!!!!

I am so frusterated with M.B.

I'm still pissed.... I'm sure Paramount just slipped him some $$$$. There is no way his opinions about something this big can change within 24 hours.... Thats just ridiculous.

Or they may have reminded him of a contractual obligation that would cost him too much to break. I'm no insider, just throwing out ideas.

He's under contract with Paramount. I'm not sure what possessed him to say he wouldn't direct Transformers 2, but the least he could do is stop commenting on formats at this point.

OP sounds a little excited... Who cares about TF2? It's not on Blu, so we all should be boycotting Paramount anyways. No box office, no DVDs, not even a rental. Hell, I'm thinking about boycotting Viacom entirely including TV shows. I might not be watching CSI this season...

I will say that any Spielberg films that release, I will be buying regardless of studio. And as soon as Paramount starts releasing Blu again, I will show them some love.

For once, Scott Hentrick seems to have done some homework:
Hollywood in HiDef.com, no less

PT TUESDAY -- Michael Bay himself posted a further backpedal on his web site late Tuesday saying he over-reacted with his first posting and that he "might be back on for 'Transformers 2.' He also said he heard where Paramount is coming from today, which means that his comments sent top studio brass scurrying to reign him in and Lord knows what kind of discussions about back-end points and fees were discussed. Heck, about 4 years ago Bay got Disney to give him a brand new Ferarri valued at $250,000 when he was in a snit over the studio holding him to his promise of delivering a PG-13 theatrical release of "Pearl Harbor" and then making him wait until months after the PG-13 DVD was released to finally introduce his R-rated cut, and because they wouldn't let his preferred Criterion Collection people produce the 4-disc set.
Bay, who, despite his reputation as a hothead and prone to knee-jerk reactions, was a prince when he accepted my invitation to receive a special DVD Exclusive Award in person a couple years ago, is surely playing this situation to his great advantage. And good for him.
Be sure to note that in his revised web site posting, Bay has not come close to retracting his comments that for Paramount/DreamWorks' "to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks!" At this point we can only let readers and consumers interpret what, if anything, led to the two backpedalling Bay web postings beyond what Bay has most recently posted.
Call him "sellout" if you want, call the first post "Harry Knowles Syndrome" ("Wow, the picture's so clear...Did HD invent this? "), but at least call it after a little bit of backstory.

To quote Anton Ego, I'd like some perspective, with a glass of wine.

Well, I think MB has a serious impulse control problem.

He declares he's off T2 because of a dinner with some disgruntled Blu-ray supporters? And then back on T2 because Paramount "explains" something to him, and then he things HD DVD rocks thanks to a showing of 300?

Quote:
Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three Blu-Ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-Ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker.
Nothing changed right? There is still no Transformers for Blu-ray. Also, it's interesting that he is having dinner with three Blu-ray fans.

Why is everyone treating M. Bay like he is a Spielberg or Lucas? The only thing that I would absolutely want on BD by him is the Rock. I did enjoy the Transformers and would buy it if available for BD, but it is not the end of the world if I don't get it. He really hasn't made very great movies to give him the attention he is getting, at least in my opinion.
