Gotta make those quotas even during a pandemic.

I don't speed simply because I don't want to get pulled over and have a cop leaning in my window breathing on me.

I expect them to get even more aggressive with the low amount of vehicles on the road. Big part of their budget comes from citations and the hope no one fights them.

If they’re going too fast they may crash and burden the already stretched health services. And depending on the measures in place locally they may have no business joyriding even if sticking to the speed limits.

Instacart still allows this and trotted out their spokesperson saying most people don't do this and that the company discourages it.
It's despicable. I signed up for Instacart, and have used them once, and it was great. It's hard to find available shoppers now, but I had already intended to tip a little more than usual. I hope instacart does something about this, like perhaps locking in a certain amount of the initial tip or something.

Not gonna happen. Work is much more than earning money. It gives us a routine, the physical action of getting up, getting ready, travelling to and from work etc but most importantly it provides us with human contact, no matter how vile some of them may be

It is very good for our mental well being.

Plus business's claim so many of their tax rebates etc based on what they are paying for having a physical place their employees can work. Also productively is lower when you work from home.

Well that will be the great debate going forward...

I think it all depends on your line of work. Personally while I don't see 'everyone' suddenly working from home in the future, I do see it being offered as an option to more people.

Well I know for certain if I work from home I am not as productive, which means I have to work longer hours to get the same amount done. I find the energy it takes to get up and go to a place puts me in the right mindset to actually work as apposed to walking from one room to another.

In saying that I do like working from home. I am far less stressed so my brain works better and I am definitely more creative.

Working at home definitely not an option for me and I like having a place to go to every day anyway. Need that change in environment as part of my routine.

Where possible, I can certainly see some employers being tempted to reduce costs by downsizing in office space and have staff half working from home and the other half office hot-desking on rotation.

tests have gotten faster and better but they can still only be done in limited supply. Yes for the patient, minimally, it is just a swab down the nose but that is not the test that is the sampling and then a lot longer is needed to test. In areas where the cases are low you can test more people with milder connections to the virus (aka less likely to have it) but in places where cases are high testing the severe connections (aka more likely to have it) is all that can be afforded and so the % is higher.

Some breaking news for you guys.

Ireland's Prime Minister, Leo Varadkar, has just made an announcement in a live press conference on the restrictions for Coronavirus in Ireland from Dublin.

He has said he initial 2 week restrictions in Ireland, which were due to end on Easter Sunday, will now be extended until the 5th of May.

The most common, per the CDC, include hypertension (49.7%), obesity (48.3%), chronic lung disease (34.6%), diabetes mellitus (28.3%), and cardiovascular disease (27.8%).

so basically they can try and make up an excuses for only 90% of cases.

Don't get me wrong, if it was 90% of cases had malaria or STD or cardio vascular surgery before they got COVID-19 then yes that can be meaningful, but when you include hypertension, obesity... and some of the others in the list it just becomes meaningless.

I think hypertension is the main underlying condition, it being the most prevalent. Of course obesity, diabetes and other underlying conditions lead to hypertension. But if it's true that Covid 19 attacks red bloods cells and thus the main cause of mortality, then it would make sense that high blood pressure would really be a contributing factor more than anything. Of course, I'm not medical expert and just hypothesizing.

I thought it just made it impossible to breathe properly, putting it perhaps a bit too simply.

According to some, the virus attacks the hemoglobin in red blood cells, making it hard or impossible to transport oxygen.

And many doctors are rethinking the effectiveness of ventilators, that they may be doing more harm than good in some patients and are trying other things first now instead of automatically hooking them up to a ventilator.

I'm not entirely sure why you think hypertension makes the list meaningless. In NY state, and likely for the entire country, people that have hypertension have far and away the highest mortality rate compared to any other underlying condition..

Luckily we're in isolation, but I'm out of blood pressure medication and I haven't had my other tablets for over three weeks. The pharmacy that delivers seem to be screening calls from local residents, we've spent literally hours on the phone and we've not had a single call answered (a couple of days ago I let it ring for over forty minutes with no answer) in weeks. They weren't great before the crisis, but now ...

At the moment we're worried about get supplies next week, we've been lucky up until now, as delivery slots have been available. Hopefully they'll open a few tomorrow.

It’s too bad people like you didn’t back me up on the tipping thread. I was literally going on about how people should tip and then everyone gangs up on me there saying that we should not have to tip. It’s amazing that no matter what I say, everyone here loves to contradict the things I say.

I simply believe if you tip some employees, you should tip them all. Not the customer's prerogative to supplement salary just because employers don't want to pay you a fair wage.
