I have a region B Panasonic DP-UB420 (and HDMI-only version of the 820) and the only region A BD I've been able to play with the main meny trick so far has been the Criterion edition of The Game.
Most of region A BD's when they show their "wron region number" message even if I play stop, they don't stop, the disck keeps spinning and are unresponsive to any of the tricks. |

The Panasonic 4K players can play discs that older players can't.
These Blu-rays were all unplayable on the DMP-BD91 as they went to a blue screen with no region lock warning and none of the methods I tried worked. On the DP-UB820 I simply have to press top menu when the black UltraHD Blu-ray screen pops up. Aguirre, the Wrath of God (BFI) Comfort and Joy (StudioCanal) The Day of the Jackal (Arrow) The Hired Hand (Arrow) Pickup on South Street (Eureka) - I couldn't get Dailyan's method to work on the BD91. The Panic in Needle Park (Signal One) is the only Region B locked disc that I was unable to play on the UB820. |

I just tried 'The Deer Hunter' on my Oppo and LG and neither worked with the trick. I got excited by this thread but perhaps I should not start importing these discs if they might not work. |

Yup, all of my region locked Arrow and Eureka releases have worked perfectly with my Panasonic player; the only labels that have given me the most trouble/wouldn't work are BFI, Signal One, and most StudioCanal titles ("Cross of Iron" and the remastered "Mulholland Drive" at least work). The ones that I have in the post that you replied to, however, will work on any player.

The descriptions of the two editions on Eureka's site are almost identical. The Standard Edition obviously lacks the slipcase and the 100-page book, but includes a different (and way smaller) booklet. The on-disc features descriptions are the same, so I would assume the discs are identical.
