Thx! I just made the switch to the GPU client and it's generating 7,000 ppd on a pair of 9800GT's. And that's on cruise control, no overclocking whatsoever. Plus add a couple PS3s for good measure.

Joined the team. I will be having my PS3 folding over night and my Q9400 2.66Ghz quad core PC folding when I am surfing the net and not gaming on it. I will try and get it to use my GPUs instead soon because that would do the work alot faster then my CPU.

YOu could set both up - that will give you even more points, and with that quad core cpu make sure you are using the smp client

I'm able to get around 2000 ppd on a E6400 (intel 2.13ghz dual core), and 4000 ppd on a Q6600 (intel 2.6ghz quad core), using the linux 64-bit smp client. I get about 900 PPD for my PS3.

If I remember right, when I was using the non-smp client on the E6400 it drops down to around 500 ppd. So you get a 300% points premium of using the SMP client on the same hardware vs using the normal one. That's a pretty big difference.
With my standard 8800gtx i get about 3500-4000ppd depending on the project being run but i only run mine when i'm at home and these new project 5900 runs take ages to process and are very resource hungry, i can't game and fold at the same time at the moment. I might have a go with the smp client on my dual core just to see how it goes as long as it doesn't interfere with the frame rates when gaming

Dependding on the game and your gpu you might get away with it - experimentation is the key here, dawn of war, civ and the like will still run fine even if you are using both gpu and cpu clients, FPS's may require some tweaking such as taking the utilisation down to 20-30% on the GPU

I am folding with my 9800GT SLI setup too now. So now I have my Q9400, 9800GTs and PS3 folding. My bros 2.2Ghz is folding too but he is under a different name and is in a different team. We are both competing now he gets more WU done cause he gets simpler projects due to his hardware power.

Default Life with Playstation Channel(s) Question

Hey guys, I was wondering how do you "switch" the view from Life with Playstation to that of Folding @ Home? Thanks.

Hold down the square button to bring up the channel selection. Also, when you start the program it provides a navigation help screen while it's loading.

you're certainly cranking out the units - keep it going

I hope to have a dedicated folding rig in a couple of months then i can really get some work done.

Sweet! I'm enjoying the education! I didn't even know a country named Tuvalu existed or what the people look like, etc. I'm feeling more connected to people around the world!

I've noitced there is another preview screen shot before you launch LWP that displays a living room with a small TV. My PS3 still shows the globe which is super bright IMO. Is there anyway to swtich to the other screen shot?

Did you try deleting Life with PlayStation, then redownloading?

button on the LwP icon to bring up the options menu with delete.

happy folding everyone!

Folding rig update:- Managed to get hold of a brand new 8800gt for £56 including shipping - not bad considering you can still pay more for a used one on ebay. Now have a total of 3 gpu's running 24/7 and the cpu - still have the option to switch to a quad but i'm driving a hard bargin (£80 max)and so far no joy. Now managing about 12k ppd
