I like the HK version the best.

It's entitled Infernal Affairs.

Totally behind you on this, I feel the U.S. version is a cheap knockoff, sorry Leo

It's based off of 'Internal Affairs'
Sooo...it's not really a knockoff if it was INTENDED to be like those movies.
Thanks for coming out.

Yh based on but still it was bad compared to Infernal Affairs, I'd buy the Infernal Affairs Trilogy over The Departed any day.

I generally don't like remakes. I do prefer The Departed over Infernal Affairs. To me they are very different. Comparing them is like comparing apples and oranges. The acting, style, music and languages really set them apart.

Some people just hate remakes because they are remakes. In Taiwan, many people are crazy about Andy Lao, and they didn't give Leo a chance (even though many here saw Titanic 500 times). Some people decided The Departed was inferior before they even saw it, just because it was a rehash of a HK movie.

My opinion of him changed from this movie alone. After since watching Blood Diamond and and Body of Lies, I'm shocked to actually say I'm a fan of his work.

Guys, this is becoming a "movie review" thread and that wasn't really my intention. I don't want it to get moved.

Agreed!

"The Departed" overwhelms with too many characters, too many actors. Then again, Scorcese is about overloading in order to overwhelm.
