They surely will they will look at exactly what worked with people for Halloween 2018 to make it such a box office success by drawing as much as possible from the first movie just like that movie did

I’m just really surprised an elm street sequelmake hasn’t been announced yet

Otherwise just leave neve behind and start completely fresh set in the same world but no direct links to past sequels
I agree with her being the reason behind the killings for a fifth time would be ridiculous, but at the same time I would hate to see a Scream movie without her in it. Personally, I would love if they went with an almost “When a Stranger Calls Back” type of situation where she MAKES herself involved and tries to protect the new protagonist or something.

I would freaking LOVE an Elm Street or Friday the 13th big finale film ala Halloween 2018. Bring back the dream warriors and Nancy do one big Freddy's Dead (except good). Hell a magnificent seven Friday the 13th finale with all the survivors taking Jason down for good would also be a hell of a thing.

I don’t mind that Williamson isn’t writing. After the last two disappointing sequels I’m actually pretty excited to have some new blood take a stab at this. And filming in Wilmington once it’s safe to do so. It’s really happening! I’m predicting a September/October 2021 release date.

Ehren Kruger wrote Scream 3, and rewrote Scream 4 uncredited.

Mmmm so I guess the neve return will be officially announced any day now then

I dunno about this TBH if they bring back any of these trio just to kill em off that would piss me off even more than retconing sequels

But on the one hand I’m glad it’s got a whole new creative team and studio behind it so I’m excited to see what comes of all this

I have a feeling they will play around with the retconing sequel stuff and not directly tell us if it has done it or not to keep us guessing throughout the movie

You’re right that Ehren wrote Scream 3. I know Williamson wrote the initial Scream 4 script and then they brought in Ehren for some rewrites but we don’t truly know how much of the Scream 4 script was Kevin and how much was Ehren. Either way, I’m glad neither one of them are writing and some new writers with some decent credits under their belts are doing this. A fresh perspective can be good.

You just know this film will be a remake of the first with meta-commentary on "legacy sequels" that are thinly-veiled remakes of the first movie...

Wont be October 2021. They're not going to compete with Halloween Ends.

I can see this being a spring/late summer 2021 release. Maybe even Spetember 2021 at the latest.

As for the news, I'm glad ita official. Neve Campbell should be announced officially pretty soon as well as the others. But what really grabs me from that article is Arquette stating that the new script is "original and inventive". Cant wait to see what they so with this.

So without any “Sid is the killer” theories, what are some people’s thoughts as to the plot of this movie will be or what the characters’ involvement will be? I feel like maybe Dewey and Gale will be divorced (we know it’s only a matter of time before they confirm Courtney is coming back too). Dewey will still be in Woodsboro, perhaps Gale has left town to rekindle her journalism career and a new set of murders brings her back to investigate the story. Sid is going to need a really good reason to be back in town again, as I have a hard time believing she would voluntarily come back and knowingly involve herself in a new set of murders. I have a good feeling we will get a new set of Woodsboro teens but I want them to be well-written engaging characters who we will want to follow, harkening back to the first Scream. Also, my hope is that they keep the cast small and focused. Scream 3 and 4 are jam-packed with extraneous characters and and they all suffered with minimal screen time as a result. Also, I would prefer they stay away from casting too many well-knowns. It’s honestly distracting to me when you have actors like Adam Brody and Anthony Anderson in bit roles as cops.

As for Sid, well, who knows how extensive her involvement will be with this one but if I had my way, she would be front and center again as many of you may not want that. But I want the Sidney of Scream and Scream 2 - in my opinion the first two movies did the best job of truly selling her as the heart of story. My wish is that we get that again. The fact that the filmmakers seem to be such big fans and have such a great appreciation for the series makes me hopeful that we can really get back to the what made this series so great and keep that focus.

And thank God for that. Kevin Williamson's Scream 4 script was leaked and it was kind of a mess. The final product was way better.

Dewey could die in the opening scene, and Sidney would return for his funeral.

Scream 5 can open October 1st, two weeks before Halloween ends, and be fine. Most films make most of their money in the first two weeks anyway.

We'll have to see how Halloween Kills does to see if Halloween Ends is an actual threat.

What were the major differences? I remember hearing that it was supposed to start a new trilogy and it ended with Emma Roberts supposedly getting away with everything (ending on the shot of her being wheeled into the ambulance as the reporters were surrounding her).

None of the previous Scream movies have opened in October.

Sounds like they're planning on filming this one in Wilmington, same place as Halloween Kills.

It ended with Jill about to be taken away to the hospital and she overhears of them finding another woman alive. Sidney? Kirby? who knows.

And run with a brand new batman that people will be really curious to see how pattinson does no chance scream 5 would sink harder than 4

I think mid December like the first 2 if not that then push it to feb 22
January is gaining popularity as a month were the rubbish gets dumped so they don’t wanna do that for scream 5

Scream - December
Scream 2 - December
Scream 3 - February
Scream 4 - April

The release dates aren't really consistent so October could work.
