That girl has waaaaaay too much baggage and hasn't worked since her show was cancelled two years ago, I'd be shocked if they make any effort to bring her back.

I’m really hoping the cinematography on this one is more in line with the first 3, which all look they were shot the same for the most part. Scream 4 has this hazy look like it was shot through gauze on a camera with Vaseline on the lens. Not a good choice at all as it looks jarringly different from the previous movies and makes it seem like it exists in an alternate universe or something.

Scream 4 looked like it was being projected through a fishtank filled with soapy water. Hideous.

YESSS it was absolutely horrible looking like some sort of daytime soap opera gone wrong

Bring back the small town natural country vibe of the first movie Lots of greens in that movie lol

I always remember that establishing shot of sids house when she falls asleep and you see the sunset over the mountains with the creepy “ahhh haww aahhh hawwww” music sets up that scene so well with the isolation for Sidney in this house

What’s also creepy about that scene is on a rewatch you know he’s in the closet the whole time the killer watched her sleeping and could have killed her at any time if he chose

Here's an idea about one of the original characters being the killer.

How about Gale Weathers? Hear me out: she was hungry for attention during Scream 1, after Sidney sent Cotton to prison. However, she was completely innocent during the first string of murders. Arrogance and desperation got to her head and she was actually the mastermind behind the plot for Scream 2. The murders keep going and she's on top of the world with her best selling book, box office smash movie about it (Stab), and once again being a "victim" to live to tell the tale again. As Randy said in Scream 2, "reporters stage the news." Scream 3 comes and she's innocent again and has no ties with Roman, having no idea of Maureen's past and how Billy and Stu were directed. She's the mastermind again in Scream 4 - a boring decade where the Stab movies start to tank and she has nothing exciting to write about again since the murders stopped. Once again out of desperation, she approaches Jill and sets up the whole plan. However, Jill partners with Charlie without Gale's knowledge hence why he attacked her at the Stabathon. Her plan in Scream 4 didn't go as planned (or did it?) but either way she was back in the game again while investigating another killer and once again narrowly escaping - enough stories to tell for several more books and movies. Now, 10 years later and things are boring again so she becomes the active killer for Scream 5, thinking she will outsmart Sidney and toy with her once again so she has another few years of a successful career that she badly craves.

Honestly, I can see Gale or Dewey being the opening kill. It would be a big shocker, and a big opening is exactly what they need.

Naaa it’s too much complex for a simple slasher movie
If there’s anything halloween 2018 thought us about the casuals audience who do help with the box office is they like things simple and straightforward

Any notion of one of the original 3 becoming the killer is ridiculous after being in and surviving 4 separate times

Who the killer ultimately is doesn’t really matter really it’s all about the execution and new ways they can play around with the format to surprise modern audiences

I say they scrap the opening kill it’s not a shocker anymore everyones expecting it just start the movie and it’s plot don’t waste 10-15 mins on a nobody’s death
And no do not kill of one of the trio in an opening death That’s an insult to the character and a surefire way to piss off fans if they want to kill one of them make it meaningful and have an impact

That's a Scream tradition that they'll never skip, I'm sure. However, I agree that the opening kill shouldn't be the original trio.

I still like the opening of Kevin's original script for Scream 3. Sidney is hosting a dinner party at her house and the killer calls and attacks her guests. She kills Ghostface and it ends up just being an obsessed crazed fan which is what makes her go into hiding. This would work well for the 5th film.

I don't have the script but this info has been circulating the internet since shortly after the movie came out. I think they changed the opening cause Neve Campbell had such limited availability for filming.

Honestly, Scream 3 would have been fine if they cut that line.

Oh, God. Yes. The lighting was bad. Everyone had that weird soft glow to them that Calista Flockhart used in Supergirl to hide her wrinkles.

I don’t think it was that I really think the columbine shooting effected that movie overall alot it’s why the tone shifted more into 90% comedy 10% horror
than 70%horror 30%comedy

Didn’t they delay the shooting of the movie aswell for columbine

Interesting article about scream 3 and Weinstein

Now that I think about it in 2020 after all that happened with metoo and Weinstein it gives that movie a new way to look into it next time I do watch it

Interesting, I was thinking about this the other day. The irony that Harvey produced it and Milton's character turned out to be a mirror image of him.

Yes, Mathew Lillard even confirmed this in an interview a few days ago saying he was supposed to return in Scream 3 but they had to change the script due to Columbine.

Not a fun time to be a horror fan. A lot of slashers around the time were being gutted as well.
