Slashers are my favorite type of horror film but I'm not a Friday the 13th "Super Fan" - should I be ashamed of myself?

Friday the 13th Part II is my favorite of the series, mainly because it's actually plausible and genuinely creepy. The rest are more like fantasy movies - not necessarily a bad thing - and, thankfully, humorless. If Paramount had turned Jason into a wisecracking fiend like what New Line did to Freddy Krueger, I would've stopped at the second film. I enjoy all of them for what they are but, like I said, I wouldn't put them on a personal list of favorite slasher films (except Part II).

Creepy? No question. Plausible? Uh...I'll have whatever you're having. A double.

In retrospect, the first one was really good, but once the mystery element was gone in the sequels, I lost interest. That's also why I've never been a fan of the Halloween and especially the Nightmare on Elm Street movies.

Plausible in terms of a disfigured dude who witnessed his mother being decapitated turning into a masked maniac running around the woods killing people. The later sequels kept bringing the killer back from the dead over and over - that's why I categorized them as fantasy films.

^The NoES movies at least placed themselves firmly in fantasy land right from go, which made for some imaginative setups, and Robert Englund looked like he was having fun. Once me and a friend did a marathon of those and found that we generally preferred the odd numbered ones in the series (up to New Nightmare, haven't seen any beyond that).

That part is plausible. But living in the woods for years, much of it as a little boy...and couldn't figure out how to get back to civilization but could build a shack with a toilet...and nobody happened upon him by accident while hiking through the woods...and he survived by eating bugs/animals...

When I was younger, I thought he drowned and his body was never recovered. When Mama met her match, he came back to life as a "vengeance demon". Alice's "dream" was real; he DID come back. As stupid as that sounds, it makes more sense than what actually happened!

If he did survive in the woods, what was his workout regime? He turned into a pretty guilty man by living alone in woods. Maybe there’s a Jason the list years. A man off on adventures leaves the woods, then at some point comes back to kill!

Do you think he hiked the Appalachian Trail to "find himself"?

My girlfriend does that with just about every movie I try to show her. I've since stopped recommending movies to her. If she wants to watch something I own, fine. But I don't go out of my way and say "We need to watch this". Sometimes she'll pick out one of my movies and say she's been wanting to see it, only to end up commenting on every single little flaw. I often wonder why she even bothers watching movies.

SF posted on their FB page a couple of days ago news about price drops on some Shout Select titles and boy are they getting crucified by their followers regarding the shipping delays.

I guess I should feel lucky my wife likes 80s slashers as much as I do

"Sell" them to a friend, then leave her. Once your divorced, get them back. Problem solved.

Has anyone ever been able to successfully frame the lithographs that come with certain releases? The one's that have the awkward as heck 28.5” x 16.5” size? Trying to frame the Halloween II and Halloween III lithos in particular and it's a nightmare! Any recommendations in general? I know some of you collectors aren't satisfied with just tacking these beautiful pieces of art to the wall with pins creating damage, or using tape, also creating damage. Any ideas?

I ended up giving away my Creepshow litho due to the absurd dimensions. No SF poster/litho is worth spending over $40 on a custom frame for. The regular posters are cheap and easy to find properly-sized frames for.

Depends on your budget and personal feelings on prices etc.

One friend just got a cheap, way bigger frame and found a cheap, custom mating website to just mat it in.

There are some frames on Amazon that are 29x17...meaning you could mat them or lay them on some thin poster stock cut to fit that size rather than getting a totally custom frame.

I don't mind being single right now, but I do miss my ex a lot sometimes. We were together a long time, and I even introduced her to Italian horror back when I was in grad school, during the DVD era. I mentioned in an older post that we were watching Don't Torture A Duckling together one time, and when the ending scene came, she blurted out, "That's so fake."
