Aren't you glad that you shared that link here? For many of us it has only strengthened our dislike and distrust of streaming.

It is easy to keep a "smart" TV stupid by just denying it an internet connection.

My player isn't connected to the internet at all.... Not wired or wireless.

It still works. And, thankfully, it's not a Samsung.

Yes, I didn't want to sound like Steedeel where the sky is falling, but like the Article says remember Y2K. If you have good equipment, and it's updated properly there should be no problems. We are too dependent on the Internet now, you might think that you can disconnect but you'll be back. You wouldn't be able to Post on this Thread anymore.....Oh No!

We're all dependent on the internet to one degree or another. I am working from home still so I am 100% dependent on the internet to do my job. But thankfully I am 0% dependent on the internet to watch movies.

The problem with all of them "ifs" is that they are not in the consumer's control. If the SSL certificate expires and the piece of gear tries to establish a server connection, the unfortunate consumer could wind up with a bricked piece of equipment.

Never fear! I can easily disconnect everything in my home theater from the internet and still keep you entertained with my posts.

The sky is falling? Just this year we have a pandemic, racial tension, killer wasps, Brexit, no new films? What does it take for the Sky NOT to be falling?

Thanks for the name drop though?

Oh, by the way, it’s not the equipment, it’s the expired certificate. It’s just laziness and it’s about to bite some people on the ass.

Well, at least they are aptly named. I can see the cause of death on my death certificate now: murdered by Murder Hornets.

I was actually thinking about is Netflix worth it recently. You could sub a couple of services easily for the cost of 4K Netflix.

My Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection Volume 1 has finally arrived, but someone is more interested in the air pillows that it came with:

I don't connect my Blu ray player to the internet anymore either.
A few years ago I updated the player and after that it wasn't region free anymore. Had to send it back to the store where I bought it.
They made it region free again but told me to never update through the internet anymore.
If I wanted an update I had to contact them and they would send me an update through mail which I had to put on a USB and upload that way.

Video game consoles are different. If you never update I'm not so sure you'll be able to play every new game.
I just bought The Last of Us: Part 2 on PS4 and it wouldn't start without the latest update. The game is huge though. It's 2 discs. A data disc and a play disc.

And Netflix is the best one. Doesn’t say much for the others!

Better movies are often 2.40:1 and everything else could just get bars on the sides which are less distracting.

Thankfully, I use a projector so I can zoom to fit any screen. My screen is 2.40:1.

I am interested in TV type displays ( have 2 of them elsewhere in the house) and would prefer if they came in 2.40:1

If I remember correctly Philips had an ultra widescreen TV years ago.
I think it was 2:35 or 2:39

Don't know if it was a success though. I've never really seen them in stores much.

That sure looks like a nice set.

Also glad to hear your cat recovered from that awful disease.

It cost him his right eye, but it hasn't slowed him down a bit. He is 14.5 pounds of fuzzy feline fun.

Oh, I definitely believe that. My sister's cat lost an eye too.
Didn't seem to be a hindrance at all.
