It would have helped to contextualise the way Batman began to spiral down towards harsher methods and at the start of BvS kinda show the "last straw" kinda moment into the way he now operates.

I do not think BvS was pitched in a way of "This is all my vision to set things up" but more like "This is clearly what you want to do and this is how i think it could be achieved" when it came to pitching the future outline for stories.

I guess it's done the way it was and that's done now. All we can hope is at some point we do get a proper live action DC universe.
Would have liked for them to put out a Affleck Batman film before BvsS. To help set up both characters. Wonder Womans intro was handled well tho, that helped cement the success of WW.

This is simply not true.

2019 was the biggest year on record with +$42 Billlion in theatrical box office Worldwide. It was also the second biggest year on record for US domestic box office gross. A lot of Hollywood blockbusters now make more money in China than they do in the US.

Just because you and I can afford and accommodate the pleasure of nice home cinemas, doesn't mean that everybody else can enjoy the same privilege.

It's mandatory, in a way, for studios to rely on the international market., for most of their blockbusters!

I fully agree with the wider point apart from the China thing, people keep repeating it ad nauseum but it's more nuanced than that. The studios take money over there but with the mere 25% return from the Chinese authorities then you need to be grossing hundreds and hundreds of millions to actually recoup anything like the money they'd get from a primo domestic run. Look at what Paramount did with Bumblebee the year before, forgoing the Chinese box office grosses completely in favour of a fixed payment from the Chinese distributor.

That's why I think the stat of 2019 being the second biggest domestic gross ever shouldn't be overlooked, not that you were doing so but domestic is still very very important to the studios. Universal haven't quite had the bumper haul in recent years that they had previously but they're up there every year in total grosses because of all those cheapies that they produce which end up pulling in hundreds of millions between them.

Another reason why mid-budget films are a necessity.

Just to chime in on Josstice League... for those that think it’s the worst DC film, I can only assume you haven’t yet seen Birds Of Prey. Honestly - and I say this as a huge DCEU fan - it was embarrassingly bad. I can’t think of a single redeeming feature about it, other than I can now make an awesome breakfast sandwich...

I enjoyed Josstice League for what it was, I found it entertaining at the time, and have enjoyed it every time I’ve watched it at home on blu-ray. That said, I’m well aware of it’s flaws and cannot wait to see the proper Zack Snyder version of it, which by all accounts is going to be a completely different film.

What? To each their own but BOP was a blast and a breath of fresh air. One of the most delightfully fun DC movies. Josstice League was an abomination and an embarrassment on all levels. It was a complete joke. I did enjoy parts of it though but the bad outweighed the good.

The last half decent DC movie was The Dark Knight Rises.

Birds of Prey is a breath of fresh air if you're in outer space. Awful movie.

I guess Snyder is going to re insert Cyborgs' whole character arc. (motherboxers, birth of powers, parents, etc)

After all, as stated, he is the heart of the movie.
