Apparently Spielberg directed some second unit on Scarface too. He just seems to have been really hands on and itching to work around this time.

That stuff had to have come from Hooper. And we know he works well in teams, as evidenced by his collaboration with George Romero (RIP) on Creepshow."

What the what?

Schindler's List, War of the Worlds, Munich, Saving Private Ryan, Raiders and Temple of Doom, Jaws, and Amistad, among others, would like a word. One of the reasons Spielberg's action and horror sequences work so well is because we always get the sense of genuine danger to the characters involved. I still remember so vividly how intense the opening to Saving Private Ryan or the first attack in War of the Worlds were on first viewing.

He did uncredited camera operating during the climatic shootout. Specifically, the low angle shot of the assassins entering the foyer.

Not only this but because, Steven Spielberg is a damn good filmmaker, and the world knows it. He's one of the best and wealthiest filmmakers in the industry.

I'm not debating anything here but that's a funny thing to bring up as if it matters lol

Because, not every filmmaker is a multi-billionaire. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are the only two multi-billionaire movie directors in the world.

What’s with the white dots on the lenticular slipcover?

Looks like soap stains or something.

...but it’s deliberate?

It has absolutely zero to do with the topic being discussed.

That doesn't have anything to do with them as filmmakers or artists though? It's completely irrelevant. We know they have a lot of money. lmao

Recently picked up the German steelbook Poltergeist release and I kind of love it. Planning on selling my old digibook but I'm wondering if there's any difference between the German disc and the disc in the digibook? Disc art is different but the German disc boots straight to the menu and everything is in English. Any reason to keep the American digibook BD? Checked several pages of the thread but it mostly seems to revolve around who actually directed this.

Photos in the spoiler for clarity:

Just watched my old blu a couple of months ago to show the kid. Tonight started watching on Netflix. Looks like a newer, sharper, cleaner (not dnr) transfer. Maybe I’m crazy. It’s 4am. I’m not digging out the blu to A/B but it seemed different. Maybe there’s a new transfer out there? Maybe a 4K release coming? Anyone else see?

It's the same transfer as the blu-ray. Would love a 4k restoration though

Could there be a chance another Label such as Shout or Arrow get this for release?

I reckon it's more likely that Warner will do a UHD release.

Most likely yes, but I'm really hoping for Warner to surprise us with a 4K release with new bonus features. Poltergeist is probably in my top 5 Spielberg films (Spielberg and Hooper directed it together, even tho Steven wasn't credited) and deserves alot more attention than it does now.

They didn’t give it to Shout when they did the sequels

I can’t think of a time a Spielberg related movie has been licensed out

I really want to pick this up but I’ve waited so long. I know as soon as I do they will announce some other release.
