If this gets a disc version on PS5/XB SX I’ll pick it up. Was going to get the game again anyway to through the new DLC expansion.

Apparently the Control Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition are pretty much the same yet the dev/publisher is screwing them over too for having paid out in advance which is extremely crap. Especially since it probably cost them more to support the title.

I have the best buy exclusive deluxe edition.

And yet. We're getting it free for Witcher 3.

I mean, CDPR are literally giving the same type of game away for free to customers and yet 505 and Remedy lied to consumers with such tactics as trying to release a blog post on why it wasn't possible

This entire thing has shown their greed, hypocrisy and i hope they suffer from it. Don't get me wrong, if there was a legitimate reason like "We're offering content on Ultimate Edition not available in the other editions" then maybe they may have got away with it but imo, they're scumbags and the entire internet now knows it.

Love Live CDPR if they continue as they are with their consumer friendly practices.

This seems to be a 505 issue.

They simply do not want to deal will cross-gen support for free. I havn’t read or seen anything about the cross play from Remedy. It’s possible I missed some news from Remedy in fine print.

If the game is (Ultimate) discounted with all DLC & supports 4K/60/RT on next gen, then that is fair in my opinion. Can’t expect everyone to work on NG for free.

I think the problem is that it's literally the SAME content as the Deluxe Edition. Just renamed Ultimate Edition. The people who got the "Ultimate Edition" and tried starting it even said it just started their Deluxe Edition on PS4. It's literally an unfunny joke.

To make matters worse, they sold the Deluxe Edition on "sale" just the week prior to revealing this Ultimate Edition WITH a free next gen upgrade. It's BAD.

Games that have been out for a while not getting a free update is fine to me. These are businesses after all that need to make money not lose it, BUT I would say in this case at least the people who have the season pass should get the update too. They supported your game when it cost much more than buying a complete edition.

Personally and this is just my opinion on what is right is to give owners of the Digital Deluxe edition AND the Season Pass the free upgrade since they have bought pretty much all the content that you're giving and upgrading for free.

Posted this in the PS4 section without remembering there was a PS5 thread for this too. Anyways...

Any idea if the achievements/trophies for the Ultimate Edition are separate from the regular edition of the game? Even with all of the controversy, I was still considering getting the Ultimate Edition since I never got the Season Pass yet, but would obviously prefer not to lose my progress in certain things.

Allegedly the people who "Upgraded" to the Ultimate Edition for free and launched it said there's no separate trophy list and they just seem to add on. I guess it's kinda lazy but also cuts down on duplication of same trophies too.

Thanks. That's actually a good thing though for people who already played it like me. I loved the game, but wouldn't have been too thrilled to have to play it a 3rd time just to be at the same place again. I'd mainly be interested in it again just to play the DLC I never bought since it's only an extra $15.

If there were more trophies I'd probably just use invuln and 1 hit kills to blow through the game again lol.

I bought the base Control game and later the season pass. I get why fans are upset, but as someone who likes to buy physical games only and have a collection, I'll gladly pick up the PS5 version. It's a unique game in my opinion, and games like this, I do like having the new next gen physical release, it's worth it to me.

I also have the game on PC, but my bottleneck is my GTX 980 ti is my bottleneck for this game. At best I can run it at 60fps with slightly better settings than the 1080p PS4 Pro version. Even when I buy the RTX 3080, I still will buy the PS5 version.

But there is no PS5 version to buy physically, no?

I have a base PS4, and this already pushing the limits of a 2013 hardware did a pretty decent job. However, it had terrible fps drops which can be understandable considering how old the PS4 hardware is.

If they decide to release a physical PS5 version, I will for sure get it as it will run smoothly.

Actually they did announce the physical release for the PS5 in early 2021. For whatever reason the digital version, or the patch? Comes out first and the physical version comes out months later. I imagine the digital version will be a PS5 version too, I just haven't read too much into it.

And if it is PS5 version digtally, should consumers wait for a disc version of the PS5 version, or is the PS4 game the only portal to it for a disc release?

Control interests me, but I held off because I see most of the game takes place inside a building. I'd like to be able to explore outdoors freely too, and that's what kept me from buying the game.
I was the same, but eventually gave in and was surprised. The environments are massive and have a lot of variance, and it's sort of amazing how they managed to create a labyrinth type office that connects itself yet makes sense. Give it a shot.

p.s.- I'm also interested to see what upgrades the PS5 version includes. Hopefully HDR, higher resolution, and stable frame rates at minimum.
