But they should have also double checked and get it right the first time.

What is about The New Mutants it that's not like the comics, though? To me, it's sounds like poor execution is the real culprit here.

I've had seats reserved with A-List twice but both times I've canceled. Just not motivated to go.

Saw it earlier today. I thought it was fine. Definitely miles better than Dark Phoenix but only slightly more enjoyable than Apocalypse. Which is good, I guess.

There are some cool visual elements and some fun little character moments (Anya Taylor-Joy is great as always) but other than that, kinda lacks a certain something. There are a few too many lulls in the story but not enough to kill my enjoyment.

Most enjoyable part has to be Magik for me though. Anya is one those actresses that just lights up on screen, for me.

3/5

I’m just going to leave this here because it’s ironic.

Dark Phoenix was a decent movie about effects of repressed trauma and overcoming it.

Fight me!

Seriously, they are two totally different genres and thus should be judged with different standards.

Well how are we supposed to know if you'll like it? Watch the trailers and make your own decisions.

Most comic book movies are designed with the general public in mind, given that the average movie goer probably would not have read the comics in the first place, first movies are usually quite accessible to the non-reader.

So, you may like it? How the heck am I supposed to know?

I'm hearing reports that New Mutants opened Thursday night with $750,000. Some sites are already reporting that the movie has bombed out but I think some entertainment writers jumped the gun on their reviews. This is the first time that we have experienced a pandemic as unique as this and a nationwide shutdown of movie theaters. There's actually nothing to compare this to. I think that these reviewers should have waited until tonight's box office reports were posted before making any kind of reviews.

Personally, any revenue that is generated for Disney for New Mutants is nothing but pure profit, notwithstanding the marketing and promotions that they may have paid out. The reason I think they jumped the gun is that there is nothing to compare the opening night's box office receipts to. Unless I'm missing something, I don't recall a time when all theater owners have been shut down. It would be one thing if there was something to compare it to but you can't compare this to other first day openings.

Never thought I would be defending a movie against reviewers. First time for me, I guess.

What do the reviews have to do with the box office?

Monday local IMAX is alternating The New Mutants with Tenet...right now 4 showings on the weekends, only 2 showings of TNM during the week, so will be matinee for TNM...I will probably go see Tenet in IMAX, but, not on a busy night.

I haven't even seen Dark Phoenix yet to compare, but, no trailer for TNM has made me feel like I can't miss it in the cinema, while I was unsure about missing Dark Phoenix.
