Incidently, I have Hackett's solo release Voyage of the Acolyte on lp. Worth picking up if you can find a copy.

BTW, best concert ever - Yes in the round 1978. Was able to sit on stage. Still get goose bumps thinking about it.
Yes is my favorite band; didn't see them in 1978, but have seen them in various forms about 5 times including as ABWH (at Madison Square Garden), for the 90125 tour (either at Madison Square Garden or the Meadowlands); the Union Tour (at the Meadowlands); and I believe 2 other times at the Meadowlands, and I think at Nassau Coliseum (as I recall at least one if not both times with Wakeman on Keyboards).

Genesis is also a favorite, but only saw them once; I think that it may been the Seconds Out tour because as I recall Bill Bruford was on drums. I am not sure of the venue, but I think that it may have been the Beacon Theater.

Anybody who's a fan of Yes is a bud of mine. Totally awesome. I saw in another post that you're waiting on an original version of Close to the Edge. That is one terrific LP! Hope it's delivered as promised.

Feeling is mutual.

I have now gotten several copies of quite a number of Yes LPs adding to my already owned copies to find great sounding copies. I ended up getting an early original UK pressing, another original UK pressing, and an original US pressing of Close to the Edge. I also picked up 4 copies of Fragile: including 1 original early UK pressing (Plum label), an original UK pressing released in Germany (Plum label), and a couple of original US pressings. I picked up a UK early original pressing of The Yes Album (Plum label) as well as an expensive Hot Stamper US copy of the album from Better Records.

Picked up the following as well: early and original UK pressings of Yessongs, Tales From Topographic Oceans and Yesterdays. Picked up the original UK pressings of Rick Wakeman's Six Wives of Henry VIII, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Finally, I also picked up a good sounding copy of Steve Howe's The Steve Howe Album.

Now I am just waiting until April 25 for the installation of the Turntable.

Rich

Nothing worse than the torture of waiting.

Rich, I think you saw the Trick Of The Tail tour. That was the only one Bruford toured with them, unfortunately. I never did like Chester Thompson's playing with them. Too "Amurican". Phil and Bill sound more alike in their playing styles. That's another bonus for me: On the Trick Of The Tail disk, there is a short concert video of that tour with Bruford on drums. JOY! The concert I never got to see. (Oh, for the record, TRICK is NOT part of the set, I bought it separatly, and I should also pick up Wind & Wuthering.

I also have Steve's "Voyage of the Acolite" on vinyl. An CD. All my vinyls are just sitting around acting as balast for a TV stand. I got to see Steve Hackett at the Old Waldorf in SF in 1980, TWICE in one night! The Old Waldorf is a small club, and you can spit on the stage from just about any seat in the house. We "tipped" the cocktail waitress well, and she let us stay for the second show! That was the "Spectral Mornings" and "Defector" tour. GOOD STUFF!!

WriteSimply: Yes, I did buy the US version. Is there a different one? You highlighted "96khz DTS being the best...." is there something better on some release I'm not aware of??

Maybe I did see the Trick of the Tail Concert Tour. But, I am almost positive it was Bill Bruford on drums. We were fairly far back and as I recall, I squinted and saw that his shirt had a big B on it.

As to the Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering, they are part of the 1976 to 1982 Genesis set. I have that set and the 1983 to 1998 set. I have the SACD/DVD box sets of both of those collections. I still have to get the first set to finish the collection.

Also, I picked a Japanese Charisma LP pressing of Trick of the Tail from Better Records not long ago. It is in minty condition. Can't wait to play this once the turntable is up and running.

I have the SACD/DVD (PAL) set. For the 1st two sets, I have the SACD/DVD (NTSC) sets. Sadly the PAL version was all I could find after months of trying. I probably should have bought it day one when I saw it on HMV, but I let ElusiveDisc take too long to disappoint!

No worries though, I have two DVD players which play the PAL discs just fine.

The recordings are superb A great upgrade to my old vinyl and CD versions from so long ago.

I suspect many (most?) DVD players will now play PAL DVDs in the states.
