As far as the EE DVDs and PQ, the first movie is heavily filtered and DNR'd. The second and particularly third look better and pretty good.

yeah I dont know about the first two, but my god-son played ROTK on his Phillips BR player and it looked magnificent. He only has a 32'' 1080p set so maybe that affected the PQ, but it even upscaled it looked virtually identical to an actual BD....to my untrained eye at least.

More bang for their buck.
I guess that's true in a way but I've always felt that if you have money you should send it to help the economy.

The movies are long enough. I don't mind the theatrical versions.

Yeah, it'll be nice for my wife who might be able to tolerate them in their shorter form. The EE's aren't for everyone.

My wife and I do that at least once a year, start to finish EE's! Takes a whole day, but worth it! Can't wait for the EE's! I wont buy the theatrical releases.

I did that at my house once. Also my local Theator was one of the Theators that did the Trilogy Tuesday on 12-16-2003 (the day before the official opening day of Return of the King in the Cinema) > For Trilogy Tuesday they played the extended versions of the first and second Lord of the Rings films and for the third one it was the same Cinema version that people saw on the official opening day. O and they did give us 2 intermissions on Trilogy Tuesday

Widescreen review actually gave the the first one a "5" for picture and the following 2 a "4.5" for picture. I myself agree with their review and would lean toward the fellowship having a slightly better picture aswell, but i find all upconvert very well and will be waiting for the EE versions.

I don't think this is official yet, so just take this with a grain of salt.

Looking through our reservations list at FYE, the LOTR trilogy is supposed to be released on Blu-Ray on November 3rd.

Even though they won't be the EE's, here's hoping the lossless audio is at least 6.1.
