Jeff is a lovely friend of mine and smart, smart fellow.
If anyone at Scream deserves to oversee a UHD release of The Fog, it’s him.

Totally agree. (Though I can't call him a friend - he doesn't know me. )

Now if we could just get Cliff Alligator...

Odd choice? They Live is a very popular and well regarded John Carpenter film. Additionally, the deluxe UHD release in the UK sold out of its initial printing almost instantly. I have it and I plan on supporting this edition as well.

Yeah, I'd also have to agree that this is a pretty popular title and will obviously be a strong seller. I mean it's Carpenter. On UHD. It'll sell, they have nothing to worry about.

I already have all the SC John Carpenter UHDs so I'll be passing on this, but it's great this is getting a domestic release.

This is one of those titles I’m always in the mood to watch and with all this conspiracy theories I feel the need to watch again.

I wonder what other titles we can expect them to announce in 4K along side this release. I can only hope that we will get a 4K of other Carpenter movies with this one. But of course I wouldn't mind getting some of the others. I imagine Halloween 2 and 3 will not be far behind considering the 1st is already available on 4K.

Friday the 13th should have gotten a 4K UHD release as part of the upcoming collection.

I have all of the Studio Canal releases and I can guarantee you that the video/audio will be ported over from those used for the UK releases, like they did for The Deer Hunter, over to this Scream Factory release. Unless they get some brand new supplements exclusive to the SF release, I will stick with the UK edition(s).

I should have purchased the Studio Canal versions when I had the chance but I'll pick this one up. I know some people who work at SF so I'm happy to keep them employed.

Best thing about 4k is the excuse to revisit movies I haven't seen in decades.

Figure a Scream release of Prince of Darkness is highly likely. (Different US studio, but I wonder what company snatched Escape From New York away from Scream.)

Tell that to Paramount, as they currently do not license UHD rights.

Very happy with my Studio Canal steelbooks of this and the other Carpenter films but I’m glad it’s seeing a stateside release.

If it ends up being a big improvement or have some really good exclusive extras or packaging I might go for it because I do love this film.

If I had to guess, I'd say Prince of Darkness is a guarantee as it's also Universal. Wouldn't be surprised if The Fog comes out at the same time, too, but since it's MGM, it might not be in the initial wave.

I'd say The Thing might also be a possibility, as it's been announced for other countries in 4K, but not in the US.

I just got the SC releases for this, Prince of Darkness and The Fog. I can't speak for the UHDs but the remastered blu rays are simply stunning especially for The Fog! So much so that it's like seeing the film for the first time. I didn't notice any of the encoding issues that the UHDs apparently have which was a huge relief. These are definitely worth the double dips for anyone who doesn't own the remasters yet.
