As much as i love the DEAD universe and i've watched everything. Please let everything die. Stop milking this thing for all it's worth.

There's still 30(!) episodes left for the main series. thats quite alot.

And the spin off? how will that be different? i guess smaller in scale and scope i suppose but still..

I've just been wondering.Sesson 11 is going to be 24 episodes.I wonder why they just didin't split it into two shorter seasons?Do a 12 episode season 11 and a 12 episode season 12.These extra six sesson 10 episodes could of been their own season too.Season 1 was six episodes.I suppose story and marketing/money reasons may a be factor.

A more interesting spinoff would be a fast forward with an adult Judith Grimes and RJ continuing off the legacy left behind by Rick and Michonne.

Holy shit.

That’s...that’s f*cking bonkers

Though me personally would’ve liked TWD to have ended at 12, an extended final season will have to do.

Wow, that is big news, but I agree- it's nice to know they're not just beating an undead horse. They're getting pretty close to the end of the comic story anyway. Guess that means we don't have to worry about Daryl and Carol getting killed off before the end of the show, unless they decide to abandon the spinoff. Much as I love Daryl (and especially) Carol, I don't want them to overstay their welcome. Unless it's a limited series ala World Beyond, I may go in a little bit hesitant.

I suspect it has to do with timing of the movies. I also suspect similar that the current season finale had to air before World Beyond could start for some story reasons, else they probably could have started airing it months ago.

I'm glad it won't be getting dragged out beyond its comic ending. AMC can do all the spinoffs they want afterward.

There never was jeopardy in Daryl scenes his merchandise sold the most the whole run. He was their golden goose.

World Beyond wasn't done with production yet when everything shut down... and I assumed WB was like FTWD was originally, set in the same world but not connected.

I'm glad TWD is ending, it's been dragging it's hands, feet, and whole body for years now. They've taken one day and dedicated one episode to tell the same story from each camp just to have something to do... and the stories have suffered for it. Maybe now they can stop wasting time and get shit done.

So is season 10 still extra long, or will those episodes part of the longer season 11?

The episodes will be counted as Season 10, but I see them more as 10.5 since they're more inbetween 10 and 11.

I'm confused by the length of season 10 too. Will those bonus episodes be a part of the main story?

They should just give Judith her own show...

Absolutely true, under normal circumstances - i.e: when the show is getting renewed season to season and they need fan favourites to help guarantee viewers come back. Once it has been announced that the show is ending, then all bets should be off, and we should be in a situation where literally anything can happen because they don't need to guarantee viewers beyond season 11.

Now they have sucked any jeopardy and tension out of Daryl and Carol scenes for the rest of the show because we know they'll survive to star in the spin-off. Might have been a better idea to hold off on announcing the spin-off until the show was actually ending.

Nope, October 5th I think in the U.K., so the 4th for US?

Let’s face it though, Daryl was never going to get killed off anyway, not when audiences are dwindling and he is one of the few pulls.

So let me get this right, S10 will conclude with 22 episodes in total and then next year S11 will start airing which will have 24 episodes in total?

Looking at where the TV series is with the comics, I’ve broken down what the final 30 episodes will cover:

Season 10 Six Episode Expansion: Vol 29, Lines We Cross (Issues #169-174)
Season 11 has expanded to 24 episodes. That can be divided up into three 8 episode segments.
Part One (episodes 1-8) being Vol 30, New World Order (Issues #175-180)
Part Two (episodes 9-16) being Vol 31, The Rotten Core (Issues #181-186)
Part Three (episodes 17-24) being Vol 32, Rest In Peace (Issues #187-193)
