People love to watch movies at my house. I have a 127” 2.40:1 screen and 5.2 2 Atmos setup.

If I hosted a movie like Crawl that I have in 4K on ITunes and also on blu Ray I show the unconverted blu Ray for the reliability and the lossless audio. Actually even if I watch alone I use the blu for the same reasons and the higher overall quality.

My 1200 iTunes or 853 VUDU movie accounts are mostly used by others and it sure beats loaning out the discs.

Thanks mate. Just think, I can even begin to draw my works pension next year when I hit 55, although of course I'll get a lot less than if I were to leave it in for longer. Now the mere mention of drawing a pension does make me feel old.

Those work based ones are decent to be fair. Mine was frozen when I switched jobs but it’s even worth having a couple of different frozen ones.

Very true. I have to wait until I'm 67 before I can get a state pension, so until then I'll be drawing on my personal and work based pensions. The government (very conveniently) keep moving the goalposts, so as you're younger than me, it may well change again when you're a little older.

Some of the people that regularly post in this thread that love talking up how great discs are, and their quality compared to streaming and online services, own plenty of turd discs (if they really cared about quality as much they preach in here, their collections would reflects this, and they would have other disc versions that are known to be better than what they currently have). They claim to be knowledge, but it's not hard to see that they really have little idea, and the truth is, they have done **** all comparing... They simply base their claims around a general idea, that because physical media is capable of a higher standard, that this is always that case.

I don't argue for other people when it comes to my reasoning (and yes there are some that can only RELY on "experts" instead of formulating their own ideas or conclusions). For my collection I search through multiple countries and do the research and buy what is best. Streaming isn't in my equation at all, and likely never will be.

None of the handful of physical media pro crowd that regularly post in this thread, so far have put their money where their mouth is...

Buying physical most every time destroys streaming unless you got idiotic companies like Paramount who actively sabotage their physical counterpart by releasing inferior quality on purpose.

Guess what, I don't support that crap. I would rather watch a DVD then buy a 4K stream because I absolutely refuse to let these studios make me rent what I should watch at any time of my choosing. The DVD if I am stuck with that, are often just fine.

Thank goodness for boutique companies rectifying most of the problems with my watch list. I am patient and see no reason to jut go and stream anything out there when there are so many fantastic releases coming at me left and right that I can't keep up as it is!

Not everyone can afford the same, and people do convince themselves that a cheaper lower quality option is just as good as higher quality product. If I were come to your place, no doubt I could find heaps of junk, where there is something better, but you're happy with what you have. In some of these instances, you may think there is no or hardly any difference in the quality of what you have bought, compared to a more expensive higher quality product, and that the more costly item is not value for money.

What is with these silly assumptions and taking it to a personal level? You are not going to find ANY junk at my house bud. While not every bluray is going to be like the 4K Shining, there is still tons of research going into what I own and this goes back to every format possible. Actually out of everything you have written I get the most offended by this. If you knew the projects I have been working on and my quest to squeeze every last bit of quality I can to get accuracy, you would be apologizing real quick.

Just recently I did a remux of the Bee Gees in 96khz (yeah find that on "rubbish" on streaming??) and the hoops I had to go through to get this to line up with the full frame version was so annoying. Yet you think I am going to get this quality on a crappy ass stream??

As for the tired argument of not being able to afford. Ok, what does that have to do with the facts? So if you can't get an Atmos system than that means it is inferior to a sound bar?? If you can't get a decent 4K tv and get some black friday 300 dollar special, is that supposed to mean a Dolby Vision 4K from the original camera negative 70 mm transfer 80 to 100 mbps is going to look better on some youtube quality total and utter garbage stream often 17 mbps if you are lucky?

There is nothing to discuss. It isn't difficult to get it. Or one can just go look in the mirror and convince themselves over and over that streaming is better because of the exceptional "rubbish" examples that are about 1% of the total of a decent collection.

Now if you will excuse me. I am going to put on Don't Look Now in 4K Studio Canal restoration. I will be laughing thinking of the "rubbish" that I am watching and what the streaming lovers think that is just so much better.

He has (in my opinion) posted in this thread today with the sole intention of causing trouble.

When his earlier attempts didn’t work, he had a go at people’s lifestyles (presumably because he has took up fitness) like it’s any of his business.
He might alter his approach next time and come in with a new angle but I’m tempted to make him my first ever ignored member.

It wasn't shocking. Thats kind of the point I was making. There's nothing whatsoever wrong with boxing. It can be cathartic. But it also shouldn't be used as a problem solving tool. There are better methods for that.
