It did indeed, but with each successive PS4 exclusive, game devs got to build on the technology, GoW 2018 being the pinnacle of that...

I would argue that with the graphical fidelity that GoW 2018 has, it pushed the PS4 to breaking point, thus the requirement of the tiresome hidden loading screens. The next game will have none of that. I don't buy for a second that if it is cross-gen it will be hampered by the shame shackles of the first game. Not with a title this important!

GOW most certainly is a gorgeous game but IMO the pinnacle of graphics on PS4 is Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted Lost Legacy, and The Last of Us Part 2. GOW to me is JUST behind those games. I also should mention Driveclub in the rain is still a stunner.

I haven't played Horizon 1 above scratching the surface, as my Pro crapped out in February of this year (long story...) so going on the other titles, i would state that GoW 2018 beats out the competition based on:

Flawless texture work. One. Hundred. Percent. Incredible.
Environments are stunning.
Character geometry is the best i've seen on the Pro. It's like getting a preview of the PS5!

That's my take on it. Shalom!
