I'm in total agreement there.

When Frasier was out of work and sweeping floors at Cheers, it was probably my favorite highlight of the 20 year span of the character.

The spin off, FRASIER, wasn't bad, but it could never live up to the unusual and hilarious inclusion of an intellectual with a group of barfly's.

Seinfeld is pretty great
but im one of the ones that puts M*A*S*H as the greatest show ever

i wasnt even close to being around when it originally ran but i started watching it about 5 years ago on tv and i absolutely love it

smallville may be my favorite show ever but M*A*S*H imo is the BEST show ever

I think you nailed why he was better in Cheers. In Fraiser the characters, besides him and the dog, were not that interesting. Barely enough personality for one person let alone his whole family.

It felt too much like a one-man show.

While Cheers, Seinfeld and M*A*S*H were all great shows it's really just a matter of opinion. Personally I think Friends is the greatest sitcom ever and CSI (Las Vegas) was (the first 8 1/2 seasons) the greatest drama ever.

People took my "great show or the greatest show ever" more seriously then I intended. Maybe I assume everyone watches Colbert.

It is at least top 5 for me though.

Penitus made me think of it =]

As long as we're discussing live-action comedies.

1. Cheers
2. Arrested Development
3. Scrubs
4. Seinfeld
5. That 70s Show

That's off the top of my head

Arrested Development was off the hook funny. That show was a love/hate type show, though, and a little too niche for mainstream. I loved it and would rate I quite high like you did. It's just not a very universally funny show. That's probably part of the reason it didn't last long.

It had a perfect cast and made fun of everything but not in an offensive or cheap way. It was brilliant. =)

My third favorite comedy show of all-time. A great cast with excellent writing. I remember being sad when it went off the air.

The Cosby Show should be mentioned in this thread. While not nearly my favorite or one that I even really liked while it was on, it was immensely popular. They had friggin' Boyz 2 Men sing on the show when it ended!

I loved TCS! I just think of it more as a drama but it did have laughs.

The Family Ties was also good... when I was 12-14 I loved Nick-@-Nite.

I'm almost the same with my favorites, except for two

1. Cheers
2. Corner Gas(Canadian Show)
3. Newhart
4. That 70's Show
5. Seinfeld

You know, one character that I thought had an unheralded spot on Cheers was Lilith. Her character was so engaging in a neurotic way that simply watching her walk was hilarious. The fact that she could toy with Frasier's emotions until he was the intelligent equivalent of the other barfly's in Cheers was pure gold.

Cheers is definitely one of my favorite shows.

In no particular order:

Cheers
The Wonder Years
Six Feet Under
Homicide: Life on the Streets
The West Wing
Pee-wee's Playhouse

Cheers is one of the first "grown-up" shows I remember watching as a kid with my parents, so it has a certain nostalgic feel to it whenever I hear the theme song.

Oh, and M*A*S*H ended 25 years ago, so I imagine you have to be a bit older than 29 to remember when it originally aired.

Boy, did I love Pee-wee's Playhouse. I recently saw an episode and it was still kind of funny. Now that I'm grown-up, though, you really understand all the hidden/subtle meanings of the jokes that only adults will get.

That 70's Show beats it.

Perfect Strangers early seasons is the best show ever to me.

I am personally still trying to find the isle of Mepos. I think if I ever did, I'd never return.
