"Meanwhile, Warner has announced that Dorinda Marticorena will take on Nickerson's previous role as senior VP of high-def. Currently VP of kids and sports marketing at Warner Home Video, the studio says Marticorena will contine Nickerson's efforts to promote the mainstream adoption of both high-def formats."

I'm reasonably encouraged. Time will tell (forgive the pun).

I'm not. It's a completely neutral piece of corporate PR. There's nothing up or down to take from any of this until we see results.

exactly. look how paramount did a 180. even while blessing blu-ray discs with golden transfers. their blades of glory disc was to be a beaut. their actions communicated commitment. (as did their words) but oh how easily that changed. in business, you have to be as careful as you can be to keep the people you're serving pacified. its all sugarcoated 'til a deal is made then bam! they hit you between the eyes with news regarding a decision. no announcements are made until a decision is made. neutrality is simply maintaining what already exists. wb could remain neutral or they could go either way. today or monday or a year from now. until an announcement is made, its all speculation. just keep buying WB BD's. at Wal-Mart.

Next Friday I'll be ordering Training Day and when some future releases that interest me become available for preorder I'll purchase them.

Yeah nothing new but VERY interesting for BD fans. What a strange quote from Universal?? And an Micro$oft HD-DVD kingpin trying to apply for a media pass from Disney!! And he's me thinking he knew it all!

Although it is a BD site, Scott Hettrick is usually always on the right vibes.

From the article:

Quote:
Universal Studios' #2 HD DVD exec Ken Graffeo is touting HD DVD's advantage over Blu-ray by trumpeting how it will still be useful if HD DVD dies.
In a story published by the Philadelphia Daily News, Graffeo said, "Even if the format were to fail, it will still be useful as a conventional DVD player, with excellent up-conversion of discs for your HDTV."

Are you kidding me? That's the selling point you want to make for a new product?
LOL - if I wanted a conventional DVD player, I would keep the one I already have!

apparently Gaffeo or whatever his name is is still running his mouth. and yeah sure if hddvd lose the war it is still beneficial. I bet 100% that even universal is unsure about HDDVD. well, what is left for us blu rayers. continue your exclusive support to BD, and we will still win the format war.

I love the comment about Amir. He got caught red-handed. At least he didn't lie about who he was. Still pretty funny though.

At this point no news is good news. If they were planning on switching they would probably have done it already. They are probably seeing the reactions from everyone and realizing that we will probably flock to stores and buy their movies. Til we hear something we are only guessing

Pearl was a Disney film. Those buggers come out with Old School right away.

HEY blu-ray has Disney.HD DVD does not. since WB and DISNEY both sit on the BDA BOD....i wonder which format she would most likely choose...., thats if they would step down from the BDA board of directors .....
