What cracks me up are some of the presets that come stock on TV.
Even on my Sony (I love the set), I did a comparison a while back to check the DRC/HDR from my Panasonic player, and the preset on the TV looked like a bomb went off --the colors were over saturated beyond human understanding. No wonder the HDR looked so much better!

Of all the films I want to see handled with the most care to distance itself from the awful Blu-Ray from years ago will most likely end up being another Jurassic Park situation. Come on Universal, why can't you treat your all your films on 4K like 'Scarface'?
Why don’t you just wait for people on here to chime in on the quality of the release and not to base your decision on one off you tuber whose credibility is questionable?

Aye, it's great to see comments like that because you know you can safely dismiss what's being said. I do that a lot anyway, natch, but actually having proof of ignorance is always handy. I should reiterate that it's nothing personal, but here's the thing: I want to know what the content looks like viz what it should look like per the standards it was mastered with/to, not what it looks like on a TV tuned to that person's preferred settings. (Paging Mr Noremac, Mr Noremac to the car park please. Your Laserdisc player is about to be towed). Reminds me of someone who used to go on about the "inky blacks" on the Nolan UHDs who then divulged that they were watching in SDR conversion!

Not just colour temp though, I always have a chuckle whenever a comment pops up like "does anyone see a [insert random colour here] tint to the blacks on this movie?" because I know that 99 times out of 100 their greyscale is totally off.

Mine says the same thing, and was part of an order with other movies that have been delivered. Wonder if the ebay emails are partly because they originally showed delivery of October 8-9 and this being the first business day after the weekend and holiday, they had to provide the information. Cancellations while not unexpected are not nice for a company that will probably have another pressing.

So I can't tell if my settings are way off or not but my Sony is on Neutral so I'll give you that one.

But the thing I always find pointless with people showing settings is we have no idea what their TV cabinet height is.

There are so many in the World that unless the user says my TV is sitting xcm off the ground then copying a bunch of settings is pointless.

I know I have reasonably happy with my settings because they are correct for me sitting on the Sofa, if I get up then the TV gamma looks completely raised and wrong.

I think people can list settings but specify height of TV off the ground or specify where the screen actually starts.

I just set the picture modes to standard and then adjust the other settings to what I think looks good.

I'm sure you guys wouldn't be happy with it, but their my eyes, so...

It's a good job you're in charge of the subtitles and not the transfers then

Like I said the review just raised suspicion, and I will wait until other reviews pour in to make my decision.. Beside that Universal's "bundle pack" of 4K films, and sequels have never sat well with me. I bought the Jurassic Park set for one--very expensive-- film (the first one), and now I'm buying another set I don't want to get the first film as I don't watch the other two.

Glad they didn't pull that funny business with Jaws.

Should they list what heights their noggin's are as well?

If folks get their displays calibrated then the meters will be in the correct place, once you start moving your head back and forth (and off axis) with most VA sets the accuracy goes out the window.

My last Sony set had a viewing angle so narrow, you could lift a butt cheek and it would change.

There were several waves/relists. I was not on the first wave. I had it it my cart with 3 copies left, but hesitated to check my card balance first. It sold out in that time. When the item was relisted with another bstch at thst price, I bought then.

OK well then you have probably just stated why the whole posting of settings is pointless.

The black levels will be all over the place based on my descriptions, but agree if we go to the Nth degree than posting anything is a waste of time.

Have you calculated what a 10cm difference in TV height would do to the black level?

might leave neg feedback if they pick and choose to honor some but not others. either cancel all or ship all reasonable orders (meaning those not obviously for resale). this isn't some mom and pop shop. this is the manufacturer who isn't limited in what they can do.

if people have the sets already why aren't we hearing anything on back to the future 2 and 3's transfers?

Well I did say it was an old joke. It's probably best not to comment on a disc's colour accuracy when you're peaking your head into your theatre or living room holding a bag of chips in your mouth.

Calculating colour accuracy and black levels is best left to making informed choices on what type of TV is best for a specific environment. I'm sure folks like Geoff D are sitting in their primo spot whilst watching content to give us their well informed views.

The "Warm" setting is the temp that stuff is actually mastered in.

The "Standard" setting is too cold.
