Big Lots has a lot of the same movies, as did the recent Amazon B2G1. As does Hamilton Book. Maybe that’s the guy to ask? |

before the physicals media arrives to DT from their warehouses, it comes from distributors (packers), one is located at Terre Haute, Indiana at the international airport. There's a post somewhere documenting this, but I don't want to go searching atm.
I'm not going to mention their name - I don't want to spoil my opportunity to try to flex my clout as a YT partner (mostly joking - no one cares lol) and pay them a visit and shop the footage. there is a number of these businesses that repacks the leftovers across the country and they wholesale and bid on contracts etc. and yes, you really can buy a pallet (gaylord) of physical media - but the shipping and delivery is a bit much, unless you can manage a hook-up with a dock |

It doesn’t really matter who the distributer is, the stock itself is overstock, stock that’s been replaced with newer titles or stock from store closures, or reduction of stock to make room for something other than discs, so, you will see the same titles because the most popular titles sold more and they won’t put all of the overstocked titles out at once for varieties sake.

some distributors are better than others - quality control, assortment, handling, etc can very greatly, so I will disagree that they are all the same
selection can also depend upon the contract or conditions that either party brought to the table - contracts really really do matter and the higher the monastery value, the quicker they will be enforced. naturally tho, if movie X was a huge flop and the amount of discs produced too high for demand, then those will eventually turn up in large amounts. the same if studio X closes, their titles will flood the low tier stores - assuming if the materials aren't destroyed to begin with. some big studios will actively try to prevent their titles from ever showing up (disney) and i strongly suspect disney-primary titles are handling mistakes from the big stores and not intended. anytime a studio, original distributor replace a DT disc, they do it out of customer service - they are loosing money on the exchange and can legally, regulatorily do nothing - they no longer have any responsivity - other than their brand. the other thing I'll add is Movie Math - we might never know the real reasons why studio x made z movie or why a blue-million disc were made - never never never trust Hollywood math, sometimes their reasons are purely their own. |

From this last Dollar Tree wave, titles like Fist Fight, The House, and Get Hard were all in that $5 bin not too long ago. Similarly, from previous waves, titles like Jack Hunter and the Lost Treasure of Ugarit and El Dorado: Temple of the Sun (from Echo Bridge) were in the new release section of Walmart. Many of the DVDs that wind up at Dollar Tree are also items that were in $3.74 and $5 bargain bins at Walmart. You'll notice some still have Walmart stickers on them. In addition, leftovers from the Black Friday shippers from Walmart and other locations also end up at Dollar Tree. Most of the DVDs and blurays in the Walmart shippers have colored circle stickers (that sometimes say "Promo" in white letters) on them that correspond to various price points ($1.96, $3.96, $5.96, etc.) which are marked on the shipper themselves. I've noticed a few time items I picked up at Dollar Tree had those stickers on them. So, titles that you see in the bins at Walmart or new releases from distributors like Mill Creek, Echo Bridge, and Well Go USA are good candidates to eventually end up at Dollar Tree. And titles that fit both those criteria (like The Nines from Mill Creek or Kung Fu League from Well Go USA -- both of which were in the $5 bin within the last year) are almost certain to eventually wind up as future Dollar Tree finds. Similarly, the second El Dorado movie (Cities of Gold) and the other two Jack Hunter movies are almost certain to end up at Dollar Tree. There's also been quite a bit of stuff (especially DVDs) that came from K-Mart, although that source is probably nearly gone since most of those stores are now gone, but they do seem to be now getting content from Canadian stores recently as well (including Canadian Walmarts). |

Going through my movies, trying to organize and list them. Came across Fighting With Anger with Willie Nelson on DVD. Bought it at DT in Feb 2020. I don't find it in this thread by Search and don't see it in this website's database. Am I missing it? If not, how do I add it? Thanks.
Here is the Amazon listing: https://www.amazon.com/Fighting-Ange.../dp/B0019BI1AA They list Widescreen, but my DVD says 4x3 Full Frame. Unrated, full frame, maybe it's a TV movie? Another one - Titanic Mini-series 2 disc DVD - I don't see this on this website with the cover I have. Also came with a slip. eOne 2012 copyright. I see Titanic 2012 listed early this year, but don't see it in the database. Last edited by tdl797; 10-24-2020 at 08:24 PM. |

![]() That entry lists Sony as the provider, but if you look at the actual images, it's marked as eOne on the back so I think that may be an error in the database. You may want to see if your UPC number matches what they have on that entry (which is 741952719595) Regarding adding a DVD to the database, there's a couple of things: First that movie (Fighting With Anger) isn't in the database, so both it and the DVD need to be added. To add a DVD, you can use this link: https://www.blu-ray.com/products/?c=21&action=addproduct I don't entirely know how to add movies, but there's a thread on the newbies forum you can use to ask for it to be added. So, let's go with varying releases...In this site's database, we have this: ![]() On Amazon, we also have these: [Show spoiler] Maybe this is one you need? [Show spoiler] Having that sticker on the cover means nothing...they're all the same, as far as what's on the discs (unless there's region coding involved). EDIT: Region 1 Reference: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Titanic-DVD...dp/B01M4QNTT5/ (Never believe what's posted on Amazon with respect to region coding; just check this site) Last edited by strumdogg; 10-25-2020 at 04:50 AM. |
