Default 1408 Question

Are all the Blu-Ray releases the Director's Cut? I have it on DVD and I didn't really like the DC, mainly 'cause of the ending.

the US release is the directors cut, but the theatrical ending is offered as a special feature.

I hated it when
[Show spoiler]they killed Mr. Enslin
at the end. Hopefully one of the other releases is the theatrical cut.

This is one of those rare cases where I prefer the theatrical version.

I hate the damn director's cut and its supposedly "shocking" ending. It's just pathetic.

We need a new edition of this movie, with its original ending!

Yeah, 1408 and Tropic Thunder. The original cuts need to be on Blu.

It's there. It's in the special features...
You can view the whole theatrical movie if you just go to special features.

Even though it's advertised, the theatrical ending is NOT on the Blu-ray. One of the endings on the disc is close, but slightly different from the actual theatrical cut.

Just agreeing with the above poster. The theatrical ending is _NOT_ on the Blu-Ray at all. There's a similar ending, but it's missing a significant shot in the theatrical version.

My understanding is that, for some reason, the theatrical version was never transferred in HD, but the director's cut was. So rather than spend extra money transferring the original ending and including both versions of the film on the disc (like the DVD), they just cheaped out and put the one version...

I imported the German release for the fact that it has both versions of the movie, not just the theatrical as a special feature, and it is region free. Really lame not to just have both on the US release too, like the dvd...

So, on the German Blu-Ray I can watch the whole Theatrical Cut?

Yep, gotta deal with menu in german, and the default set up is german audio no subtitles, so you have to change to english audio, but if you dont mind that then yes, both versions are watchable separately, they even have different menus

i dont speak german and it was easy for me to navigate through menus using common sense

oh and there are many many only directors cut versions to import from other countries too, so avoid those if you want the theatrical as well
