What movies have you seen where the effects really added (or detracted) from your viewing experience?
What I find amazing is the effects from the first three films are still far superior to the lame CGI crap of the later abominations.

Yes of course because we had an amazing shot like the opening one of Episode 3 in the originals of course with Coruscant below and the space battle going on all over the screen

LOL That will soon become my nickname on this forum "episode 1-3 fan"

But come on! Even you got to admit that saying FX for 4-6 look better then 1-3 is pushing it a bit.

i definitely think 1-3 looked more "pretty" than 4-6, but do i think the effects fit in better with the movie than in 4-6? not at all.

I'm not sure if it counts as a special effect, but I think it does...

Superman II, when Superman throws his little S thing at some bad guys, and it's just a sheet of colored cellophane. It looked ridiculous.

Forest Gump did a very realistic job adding him to old film of famous events.
But LOTR movies were spectacular.

Indy 4- With Shia swinging in the trees. Or those stupid ants. Or the ending with the building swirling around. There's several to choose from.

How about Die Another Day. Watched it the other day and the special effects, especially in the rocket car thing look terrible.
