Just wanted to say that Santa is not bringing gifts this year for those of you lazy basterds that can't bother to change a disc after two hours. That puts you straight on to naughty list. Seriously people, get over it, you are getting more discs for your money. Yayy!

Also about this dnr thingy... so is there visible grain or is everything smooth? Like is the grain super fine but not clean like digital or is it completely removed?

I am not worried about that btw just because these films have always been super enhanced anyway in a way or another.

I propose a compromise: 2 pages of DNR *****in' & moanin' followed by 2 pages of disc capacity *****in' & moanin'; after such alternating for 4 pages, a page regarding region coding may be interjected. *smug*

new video where Jackson makes it clear he oversaw the restorations and any changes made to the films are because he wants it that way for better or worse

You forgot the green tint and then some unrelated discussion about the Hobbit and then someone mentioning Star Wars again for some reason.

Can we give this thread a green tint in celebration of this?

Best Buy charged me for my steels 2 weeks ago which was very proactive of them.

They also failed to get it to me by release day, and have now marked it as delayed, which isn't.

I have notice that UPS is delivering today. Keeping my fingers crossed that they arrive undamaged. Got the SteelBook version ordered.

That new PJ video certainly invites the interpretation that they DNRed the LOTR Trilogy to visually conform it with the digitally captured imagery of The Hobbit Trilogy; not just the relatively speaking newfangled color grading tools.

Le sigh.

Paramount was able to put all 3 Godfather movies on 1 dvd and Blu-ray each And they are just as long as the LOTR movies. It has nothing to do with being lazy. WB is refusing to do it so the can charge more cause they put a movie that can fit on 1 disc on 2 of them. Tv shows have 1 to 5 episodes on 1 disc that’s an hour each. So please explain why LOTR EE’s can’t be put on 1 disc each. The video and audio Quality would look and sound just as good as it does now.

It doesn't. He's meaning purely in regards to the 4K, i believe.

I sure as hell don't hope this means Peter Jackson has tried to make the LotR films look like The Hobbit films...
