Rewatched the clip now and at 2:14 he says “preserve the cinematic look”. Not “filmic” but I think he means the same thing.

Then why are you even still posting in this thread if you've already decided you're never going to actually watch the discs? I'm genuinely sincerely asking.

Vs how everyone that hasn't watched the discs thinks Jackson restored them now.

My copy arrived from Amazon a few minutes ago, and instead of the box set, this was in the package: https://www.amazon.com/Willow-Streng.../dp/B001R1PVQ4

I just ordered the last copy at my local Target for curbside pickup. Hopefully the in-store staff can grab it before it sells out.

If that happened to me, I'd be pissed. I guess you took it well

I don't think cinematic and filmic are at all equivalent.

People use cinematic in the sense of distinguishing it from TV.

Like someone saying Mandalorian is very cinematic. They don't mean it is filmic.

Oh, I'm pissed, but what can Amazon do other than refund me? I'll be more pissed if I can't get a copy locally today. I had plans, dammit!

If you’re so adamant about not wanting to change discs during the EE’s then rip the movie files from each disc to a portable hard drive. Put the files in the same folder so your 4K player plays them back to back.

Or you can buy them on digital.

I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t welcome an intermission during a 4 hour plus movie anyway. Use the disc change as an opportunity to go the washroom, refill your wine goblet, or pour another cup of coffee or tea or whatever.

Come back to my office check online, "1 copy available at your location" So I did online order and they brought it out to me while I was parked outside.
BestBuy stores maintain separate stock for online orders; otherwise, the "1 copy" could have been in someone's hand. I had the exact same experience (1 copy, not in the back) a couple of years ago on a title that was not even a new release. I bet they only handle small items like this and not things like appliances. On the positive side, if the website says it's in stock, it's probably in stock for pickup.
My Target store had 2 copies when I ordered online about an hour ago for pickup. I'm hoping they are doing the same thing as BB and a clerk isn't running around trying to find one on a shelf.

I'm surprised they didn't leave you screenshots in the box. It's just as good.

Plans to sit on the couch and watch LotR EE in 4K HDR in my pajamas. The most 2020 of plans.

Isn't this the guy who removed grain from his film, slathered it DNR and EE and then put some "grain" back over the image?

If so, hold his damn Avatar sequels hostage. Either we get decent transfers of True Lies and T2 on blu (or 4kUHD for you...ahem...enthusiasts) or your damn Dances With Smurfs movies don't make any money.

You should start a cult based on this mentality. It might eventually get press to your cause. Because "voting with your dollar" is an infantile notion that's never worked. Especially in home video. And change.org petitions don't work either.

My cause? IDGAF. I was just making a joke. Mainstream Hollywood hasn't been getting a damn thing from me in over a decade. I wouldn't be going to those damn movies regardless. But I do hope your anti-consumer propaganda check clears before Christmas.
