Oh that's spooky, I was literally thinking earlier that with the release of Pan's Labyrinth on UHD then there's no reason why more New Line stuff couldn't be more forthcoming, including LOTR...we've just got to hope that they put a bit more effort into these than they appear to have done with Pan's.

I love the Extended Cuts but I wouldn't be too bothered if it were just the Threatical Cut.

Day zero. This is pre-order, with express priority shipping (assuming the US gets it before Australia) situation. This is a clear my schedule for the weekend to binge situation. Money is of no consequence for my favourite films of all time.

I guess that Wingnut Films insider was right when he said that the LOTR 4Ks were being worked on...

I love both cuts, but have to say I prefer the extended cuts now - as long as both are available thats fine by me

Eh, same as all the "Auntie Jackie's sister's brother's boy said this" hearsay about the Star Wars 4Ks, it's not exactly the biggest leap that Warners were preparing one of their (well, NL'S) biggest money makers for 4K release.

Day one! Been waiting for this one for quite some time. I'm going to assume that the Hobbit will get the Atmos treatment since I'm pretty sure it was released in theaters that way but it will be interesting to see what LOTR gets.

Lots of speculation in that article, but it sounds definite that we'll be getting the films remastered in the extended cuts. I can't imagine they'd release the extended without the theatrical versions (they could have separate releases though).

A big six-film box set with all the cuts will be a day-one buy for me.

Oh my gosh, we're all going to fight each other to the death when these come out, if the bluray release is any indication...color timing, detail increases or not...using a 66 or a 100...sheesh!

Anyway, I can't wait.

In all honesty I'd kinda be more excited for that (rejigging the extras into the chronological 'day in the life' format as used on the Hobbit EEs) more than anything they could do with the presentation of the films themselves.

The German website is reliable. They also had the early news on The Shining, Batman movies and Gremlins for example.
