They may love P.C.'s but from what I've heard, they hate Vista.

My door swings both ways.

I don't lend any credence to Mac vs. PC arguments anymore because no matter whose side you're reading, it's always so slanted and the author tries too hard to "make their points" that they end up writing ridiculous irrelevant facts and stretching for semi-truths.

The common one is "Macs don't freeze up or have problems." Not sure who started that one, but I've never used a Mac that didn't freeze up, hang, or need to be forcefully rebooted at some point.

The counter argument pro-PC is the standard "all the best software is available for PC; Mac doesn't have very good software." Again, I'm not sure what that's all about. I've never had a Mac that was incapable of doing something that a PC can do (short of running an .exe file or something obvious like that).

Agreed. Competition creates innovation, take one away and you lose both.

But Photoshop is FREE with a MAC? Doubtful. Either the writer is wrong, or they're neglecting to mention that you're paying for it in the initial system cost. Adobe is not in the business of giving out free software, especially when it's their premier program. Bulk discount may apply to apple, but apple won't give you a $600+ software program for nothing. NO computer company will.

OSX is really sweet though, I have to admit. My next system is looking like it may be an apple, with Windows 7 running via VMWare Fusion.

I run both PC and Mac and they both have their advantages. Just depends on what I'm doing or need.

Photoshop = 140.00 Seriously doubt that The full Photoshop CS suite is close to a grand. My daughter is an Art Director for a firm so she gets the bill for new software.

Yeah, I haven't heard about it either, just did an update on my software and I don't recall the computer insta-downloading photoshop for me.

Regardless of what the idiot said, I have only owned Macs. One thing is for sure, my friends have spent a helluva lot lmore time "putting out fires" with their PCs than I have over the years. For every Mac I've purchased, it seems like friends and family members are constantly upgrading or replacing their PCs. I'm not an Apple disciple, but you gotta admit their stuff works—and very well.

seems like a generalization to me. i've had problems from both. i wouldn't call one better than the other unless we're comparing osx to some of microsofts less than stellar operating systems

Which I just don't get. Is Vista perfect? No.... but IMO it's FAR FAR FAR FAAAAR from the broken piece of CRAPOLA that was Windows ME. It's a little resource hungry.... but it is EXTREMELY stable and maintains itself quite well. It's the first Windows version ever.... that I haven't had to format and reinstall every few months.

probably true. i think a lot of early adopters got burnt by less than stellar hardware tho. so it ran like trash.

but win7 is a huge improvement over even vista. i think people are going to be pleased. and unless snow leopard brings something significant, apple is going to lose some marketshare

Pay for anti-virus software? No thanks, and Geek Squad? Scraping the barrel with that one, but I guess they needed that extra $130 from somewhere. Funny thing is, I can build a much better computer than a Mac or any "name brand" PC for a lot less. My last one was dirt cheap, I paid a net $5 for my DVD burner after rebates, sound card maybe $10. I went nuts on my video card, it was around $400. I remember my mobo/processor had a $30 rebate and got my case at a PC show for around $10. I spent around three months shopping for rebates and when I was done I had about $800 or so in it. The same thing from Dell would have cost at least two grand, God knows what an equivalent Mac would cost. But three years later it's still an obsolete piece of $#!). But I'm only out $800.

Anyways is this guy trying to say that when you add all that extra stuff to a PC your almost to what a Mac costs?

j/k
