Or the big multiplexes can only utilize 1/2 or 2/3 of their screens. When my local theatre opened back up in May, they started out only using 2/3 of the screens.

The bigger multiplexes tend to have the bigger screens and better seats. I'd rather they stay open instead of the smaller theatres with outdated seats and smaller screens.

Yes. I'm saying that since it's their first blockbuster currently scheduled for 2022 it's likely to be the first one since Tenet to have a theatrical exclusivity window in the US.

So, in 2022 they may be "true to their word" in not having all their films debut day-and-date on HBO Max, but I'm willing to bet that a release with theatrical exclusivity is limited to 4-6 movies for the entire year of 2022.

2021 hasn't even started yet and it's already worse than 2020.

At least there is an option to see them in theaters! Why are you all glass-half-empty about this?

Lot of alarmism going around.

Since right now we are the infancy of streaming services such as HBO max and Disney+ the prices seem enticing to the average viewer. I have long contended that the Disney+ $6.99 a month rate will go up soon and even though HBO max is $14.99 a month I can imagine that going up sometime middle of next year. My point is those cheering the demise of movie theaters that you are going to get all this content for such a low price are delusional, optimistic, or naive. By the end of next year your monthly bill for streaming services will reach cable prices. Me and my wife each were AMC A-List members and paid $21 a month and watched 3 movies a week, Regal unlimited has a equally wonderful plan as well. I still think the theater is the better value and obviously the place I would much rather watch a movie. But I am not delusional the future of exhibition is bleak and it sucks. I don't look forward to watching movies the same way anymore without being able to go to see it on the big screen. Warner calls this temporary but I call BS, look for Disney to follow suit. As of right now I feel like Taylor in the planet of the apes. God dam you all to hell!

I have seen this statement posted multiple times since this all started back in April. I have not seen one person cheering for theaters to close. This is insane. Why would anyone be cheering for people to lose their jobs. Please stop making this statement unless you can quote someone outright doing this.

I will be happy to come past and kick your chair/couch. Eat crunchy foods. Ask you every 10 minutes what someone said. I will also bring an infant.

Wonder Woman is the only one that interests me (along with Synder's JLA recut). I'd be surprised if both don't end up on blu-ray in a couple of months after premiere (see Mulan and Tenet), so I'll probably wait for that. If there are any theatres open in the surrounding multi-county area I would support WW (but in CA, I doubt it).

When will HBOMax rebrand as WB?

I wont go as far as saying people are "cheering" for this...but this thread alone has a lot of people happy for the move.

But movies that release on digital at the same time don't feel like "real" movies to me.

Not going to pay to see it if others don't.

We will. They'll only be on HBO Max for one month before being taken off. That kind of suggests a Blu-Ray release a few months later.

Every movie theatre experience I've had since May 2020 has been peaceful with the covid limitations.

I think that rowdy crowd you're describing are the Trump loving non-maskers.

I know I'm in the minority, but I LOVE this.

Theaters are a dying breed. I love going to the theater, but I'd much rather stay home if possible. This is the future.

Good question, I hope they will follow suit too.

Absolutely not. I'm just not going to pay to see a movie in theatres that's being released on digital at the same time.

That makes it less special.

A lot of people are simply glad these 2021 films won't get pushed on the schedule yet again.
