I have heard a lot of great things about these formats from the audiophile community and want to be able to listen to these discs. No audio format has surpassed these and Blu-ray. Didn’t you read the last part of my story?

What does that have to do with anything? Lots of silly arguments going on today. There is obviously a business model to support it. While I only have a few here and there, my brother is an avid purchaser. Niche product is much more appropriate then "dead" format. Especially, since it is still the superior format.
Based on your argument, 4K/UHD could be considered a "dead" format if we are going to start judging by the standard of "7 billion people on Earth" as the consumer base. |

Are you now dictating what one can or should not have? Hardware manufacturers have forced the 4K display on the consumer. Where is one going to get a new 2K display? And why would they, 4K TV's are relatively cheap even if using to up-convert. Whether one is happy with just DVD, or happy with just Blu-ray and sees no reason to upgrade to 4K media, what choice do they have? Or maybe they just want to stream 4K content, they don't need a player to do that. |

I never mentioned high or low end 4K display. All I stated was 4K display. You re-edited to add in high-end to your response.

Let me be more direct....my point is it's ONLY 400k in sales....so those using anecdotal evidence of the format having support...well it's doesn't.
I hope that's direct enough....you seem to have a chip on your shoulder and looking for a fight from any and all in this thread. Last edited by ronboster; 12-04-2020 at 10:12 PM. |

To me it is simply, they are still being made and people are still buying them. In this case, the equipment to play them is still being marketed. They are readily available for purchase. It is still considered of high quality. How is that not being supported? Perhaps, we don't all share the same definition of what support is. |

You can look at Third Man Records as an example of company that feels their profits (whatever they are since it's a private company) is enough to justify producing X number of vinyl LPs. Let me put it this way, I wholesale a petroleum product for a very small company (one of the major oil producers has a contract with us to market one of their petroleum products at one refinery). If my net profit for the year was 400k, I'd wouldn't have a job the next year. It's such a small amount of money, I'm frankly surprised it's considered viable product. We've gone way off topic....let's get back to discussing the product that Pioneer won't be releasing in the near future. ![]() |

So then you know of a commitment by Pioneer to either reproduce the LX500 or a replacement model? If not, then thinking they won't is just as credible a position as thinking they will. Especially, given the availability of the player since release.

If someone called me at work and asked if our company was going to be sold? I couldn't tell them if it was or was not...why? Because I am not in a position to know if ownership is selling or willing to sell the company. Just as a customer service rep isn't in a position to know if any new products are in development, they are there to answer customers questions about existing products. Now if "they" is someone in product development or their marketing dept, then "they" would have some insight....if so, please share who you are talking to? No, the UHD disc is not dead, but it's on its way out as is the optical disc as a medium. |

As far as Pioneer goes, most people posting in the thread have been negative about a future Pioneer Elite UHD player, why don't complain about those post. |
