I will let you know if this is truely the case. I have the mofi cd/sacd and regular vinyl version of bossanova and do little but don't have a TT at this point. According to the guys a music direct, they(mofi) are still working on the vinyl editions of the pixies album and thought the current vinly editions are soso recordings.

They aren't even remastering the albums, which also pretty much rules out the possibility of the blu-rays being multichannel mixes.
"Jeff Anderson, the founder of A+R (Artist in Residence), who is overseeing the project, says he didn’t want to touch the original master recordings of the Pixies’ albums, so the reissues will feature the music as it was originally released." http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdail...otaur-box-set/ Personally I'd settle for a MoFi SACD of Trompe le Monde, this box set is way too overpriced for what it is. |

no, they're actually doing a different mastering. these are the gold discs, which always gets a different mastering. there's no point in putting them on the gold discs if it's not a different master. again, this box set is not way too overpriced for what it is. for what it is, the price is extremely reasonable.

No, the guy in charge of the project flat out said that they going to remaster any of the music. It doesn't really get much clearer and I don't know why you would think that a gold cd equals an automatic remastering no matter what.

cause i've owned one and know that it's in fact a different mastering than the original pressing. gold discs always have a different mastering than regular cd's and are actually preferred over regular cd's. |

In addition the Gold disc doesn't mean a remastering at all, it's the sonic response and longevity that is improved. Quote:

true, but it is a different mastering and sound the original release. so no matter what they tell you it will be different. whether in mastering or sound.
