It's a shorthand throwback to when the brothers (plural) owned it, much like the way 20th Century Fox was abbreviated to 20th and then Fox.

You don't think that Warners spoke with Wanda and they came to the conclusion of them releasing KvG simultaneously to the theater and HBO Max? Even if Wanda is miffed I'm guessing Warners threw them a bone that we most likely won't hear anything about.

If Legendary are reaching for lawyers, clearly not - and we already know from various talent agencies that Warners didn't inform any filmmakers or profit participants of the deal. It does sound like this was a "Do it now" and damn the consequences edict by AT&T. Considering how long they took to come to the WW84 deal it's hard to imagine anybody on the ground thinking they could just impose it without consequences for the film division.

The latest trailer rumor is that the first trailer hits the day after Christmas, so it will likely be with WW84 in cinemas. Second, longer trailer comes in Feb/March. No word on additional merchandise, like the novel adaptation or usual art book. All we're getting so far, is the traditional graphic novel tie-in before the film release date.

Including the time frames. May 2021 is an ETERNITY from now. Especially in the wake of the last 10 months. They simply are not going to put much money into advertising something that far out in this environment.

People see an ad for something they want to watch it NOW or within a couple weeks at worst. So, if they start promoting GvK much at all a lot of people are going to think "if it's not arriving by January I don't care."

Maybe a very small teaser with WW84's release. Other than that nothing of significance until March/April, which is the sweet spot to start advertising for a May 2021 release. Even that might be too early in the current business circumstances.

The studios do not air their dirty laundry in public. All proceeding will happen away from the public's view.

Remember from the Disney screws Alan Dean Foster postings - they demanded a non-disclosure agreement before they would even talk with him.

Agreed. Before I assumed WB/At&T did their due diligence with contracts and all that...but it seems like they didn't. It seems like there's more than just Legendary upset about the move/the announcement.

There's 2 graphic novels, an art book, toys and clothing coming for the film.

Tiny update but both Amazon as well as Barnes & Noble have the novelisation of GvK on pre-order; now confirmed the author is Greg Keyes who previously wrote the King Of The Monsters adaptation.

NICE, thanks for the link. I'll have to keep checking back for availability. All three "art of books" in the Monsterverse featured gorgeous artwork, concept designs, paintings, making of info, etc. This should be no different. Can't wait!
