Hope the production, if any, becomes cursed enough that it becomes abandoned all together.

Default Exorcist Sequel (Blumhouse | David Gordon Green)

Quote:
Blumhouse Productions and Morgan Creek are developing a sequel to The Exorcist for David Gordon Green (Halloween 2018) to direct, Observer has exclusively learned.

It is not yet clear if the project will be his first directorial effort following his delayed sequel Halloween Kills, now set for October 2021.

Jason Blum, David Robinson and James Robinson will serve as producers on the film.

Never expected David Gordon Green to become a big name in horror but here we are.

I don't remember much of II and III. I remember certain scenes, but that's about it. I remember IV, though. That movie was boring. Nothing happens until the end. Somehow there is a part V, but it comes off more as a spin-off, rather than an actual sequel. Never bothered with the TV series, though.

Unimpressed (his Halloween didn't do much for me), but hopeful.

Exorcist 3’s fantastic; I’ve seen it more often than the first one.

Lemme guess... Exorcist sequel is gonna ignore all the other sequels, and have Linda Blair as Reagan grown up and bad ass and she has trauma about being possessed by a demon, and it's gonna be another #metoo empowerment parable where Pazuzu is gonna get a feminist ass whoopin?

"You don't need no Jesus or Exorcist, you got this guuuuuurrrrr".

If Pazuzu is the driving force. Then 3 would not be referenced as Pazuzu was not in3.

So is David Gordon Green going to reboot every horror franchise and make direct sequels to the originals now?

In all seriousness, I am intrigued. I loved H18 and look forward to Halloween Kills, and have heard nothing but great things from those who have seen it. So i look forward to hearing more about this new Exorcist film.

Nah, Let Ari Aster keep pumping out his original films. He's doing a fantastic job at them.

I doubt they'd reference it. I can just see where this is going, they're definitely hitting the amnesia button on the franchise.
