Release of the year for me.
I think that season 5 is the best season PQ-wise for me.

Regarding scratched discs, as I live in Spain I got the UK release as I don't like art covers translated into Spanish, they look ridiculous to me (and I'm a native Spanish), and the UK release was the cheaper option for me. I miss the days when Amazon US didn't charge Import Fees.
The UK edition arrived to me in a week despite the Covid-19 pandemia, at least something is working as it's meant to work despite the Covid-19. And ALL DISCS were in pristine condition with no scratches, fingerprints or other kind of dirt. They are made in European Union, most likely Germany or Austria, were quality controls are still very strict.
I'm halfway into season 4 and I haven't had any issues with any of the discs so far, fingers crossed for the rest of the seasons to be the same.

I'm very happy with this set as it's making me do the whole journey again with the best picture and sound possible. I doubt 'though I may be wrong that Game Of Thrones may look better in the future.

That’s good to hear, can’t wait for Battle of the Bastards. I’ll never forget the anxiety that episode gave me the first time!

Battle of the Bastards is season 6. Hardhome in season 5 is the best looking big battle for me.

Can anyone tell me if all the seasons have Chinese subtitles, or just some seasons? This site seems to indicate they are only on seasons 2, 3 and 8, which seems strange.

Still $340 on the Nordic market. Same as launch price and not moving.

When it gets to $180 or below I'll grab it.

So half the price compared to the Nordic market then. That’s some price differentiation allright!

If that really is the price in your region it doesn't make much sense as it isn't just the US version that is much cheaper.

Even the UK standard price is only $250 and it has already been as low as $200. And the UK is legendarily expensive for pretty much everything

Yeah, well that’s just the way it is unfortunately... don’t know why...

Example:

https://cdon.fi/elokuvat/game-of-thr...-disc-54164419

The Nordic edition has the same price in all stores currently, ~€280/2800SEK/$340.

Got a nice surprise from my secret Santa yesterday.

[Show spoiler]

Is this set any less susceptible to the issues involving scratched discs and/or playback issues? I'm hoping since these discs are (mostly) not stacked this might be the case.

That’s a helluva secret Santa gift! A couple people had badly scratched discs. I myself only have one small scratch, doesn’t affect playback, but all discs had finger prints. Whoever Best Buy pays to move discs over to steelbooks doesn’t wear gloves.

Haven't had any scratched discs or playback issues with my set. Just finished season 7. Regular edition (not steelbook) but did purchase Viva Elite 3 disc and 4 disc cases, with flip trays, to replace the stacked-disc cases that come with the regular edition.

Interesting. I decided to go ahead and do a visual inspection of each and every disc in the set. For the most part, everything was much cleaner than I was anticipating. I was bracing for scuffs galore on most of them based on the horror stories I've read. However, there are really only a couple of discs at best that I feel could be problematic. One of my season six discs is actually slightly cracked right near the center. The crack is pretty small, and does not extend past that little barcoded area of the disc. Not sure if this will actually affect playback.

So this current sale price of $169.99 is the lowest it has ever been? I plan on price matching at Best Buy today. I also have $10 in rz certificates to bring it down even lower if this is the case.

What do y'all think? Is this disc crack worthy of a replacement? I'm worried that it could crack further as time goes on, rendering the disc useless.

I reckon that one definitely calls for a replacement.
That kind of damage, it's only a matter of time before the disc becomes unreadable.

Damn. It just seems like a shame to do an exchange of this entire set due to damage to one disc. I went ahead and contacted Warner, on the chance they might be able to replace just the one disc. I've had luck dealing with them in the past, most recently for a replacement of a problematic Friday the 13th disc from the old tin set.

I have multiple scratched discs in my regular 4k set. Sucks.

Wow! I would definitely get a replacement because it could gradually becomes bigger after use.
