I thought Gears of War was comletely lame. I'm the only person I know that didn't gush over it. I thought it was extremely linear, boring drab gray and brown everywhere, stupid killer birds that swoop down on you if you don't stroll down the brightly lit path. Reatarded in my mind. Brilliant to others. No one game or movie will ever please everyone.

when i played the demo my hands hurt from the button mashing..maybe i just didn't figure out the controls scheme cause i only played it once..it doesn't surprise me it only got a 7, i figured it wouldn't be anything too special anyways..plus, i also trust IGN's review, because when they score high, it usually means something and if games were all free, i would never goto ign, but they cost me money and i do research before i make an investment, even though it's only 60 dollars...who cares about heavenly sword, it's just a title that people will forget in a few months..just wait for the better games to come out, i never had any high expectations for this except for graphics and sound, and it seems to reach those expectations

I can agree with that. I almost never replay a game.
99% of the time I sell the game when I'm done to fuel the cost of the next game.
The only game I've ever really replayed is Resident Evil 4.

I will be picking this up on the first day of release. I've played the demo probably about 50 times already. I love the combat system, and the story, characters and production values will make me want to play it more.

To be honest I like this title a lot more than ninja gaiden which got rave reviews. So, it's best if you try things for yourself first.

I could not agree more with you. Also the animations could have used a bit more work and it would have been nice if they made the player feel like they were actually in a war and have more than 2 things happening on screen at a time.

I looked at the video review and I think that the game has more things done right, then things done wrong. It's important on how many copies sell because that determines if the game does well or not. I won't be playing the game right now as I have other games to play and finish up, but I look forward to playing Heavenly Sword soon.

Sony has done well by releasing the Heavenly Sword anime and "Making Of..." video's on PSN I think. I never really cared too much about this game (and I happen to hate GoW, which this is often compared to) until I saw these videos. The anime sets it up for an interesting narrative, gets me interested and knowledgeable about the characters ahead of time.

The development videos show me the work they went through, and I can't help but have some respect for what has been done. Cap it off with a demo that gets a bit better the more you play it (due to figuring out the quirks that it won't tell you) and I consider myself a potential buyer. A magazine review means nothing in a generation where I can form my own opinion through pre-release content.

I'm still hesitant to buy, but I'd say there is a solid chance of me picking it up come September!

There are quite a few games coming out this September, if none of them are pushed back.

I hate to be the oddball of he group but what I saw on the demo, was style over substance. great presentation, nice visuals and the main character has some smokin moves but, she repeats them over and over and over again. With a short learning curve, fast action and a nice looking lead female charcter, this game will definitly sell. I just hope the full version is a lot more in depth. I reserved my copy a couple of weeks ago @ eb and I hope I wont be dissapointed .

From the reviews, the game looked pretty good. Hopefully this game will do well, but I could be wrong.

She repeats the same moves because that is what you keep telling her to do. There are a ton of moves and combos she can do if you take the time to learn them. There are pages of control functions.

that reminded me of a post I saw ripping into GOW, and the poster was saying square, square, triangle, was the only movie. Of course its the only move asshat, if that the only move you're using.

Wow, then you haven't played very many multiplayer games I suppose. I thought Gears was pretty generic online. As I always state though, I grew up on PC gaming not consoles, which also skewed my view of Halo altogether.

Gears is an ok game in a really pretty shell, that's about it in my eyes. Many people disagree though.

I want the games to be great too, but if the majority of people don't think they are, oh well, then maybe they aren't. I'm not going to overlook the game's flaws just because I wanted it to be great, or because I want something I can brag about.

At least wait to play it yourself before you just call all these reviewers biased or ignorant. That will at least save some humility and hopefully make the PS community look a little more mature/less desperate. If you still love it and think it deserves a 9.7 score or whatever, then call them biased. But it's going to look silly when IGN UK or whoever else gave this game a low score gives Ratchet or Uncharted or Killzone a high score (hopefully), and then we say that it means a lot, now then we turn into hypocrites.
Your ability to ignore the obvious fact that bias is rampant in this area (HD format war & console war) makes you look like the one with issues.

Was Spidey 3 one of the best movies ever? Check the box office. Gee, I guess it was. Movies and games make a lot of their money on hype and shameless promotion. It often has very little to do with quality. Is McD's the world's best food? Are game reviewers fair? Is the news unbiased?

When you grow up you might learn the answer to these mysteries and more.

Movies generally make money from being good. But you also have HYPE which often revolves around horrible movies. Besides taking Spider Man 3.. from all the bad reviews I think most people knew it was going to be bad. I was expecting it to be bad but I just had to see it anyway.

yeah exactly, spiderman 3 was bad, but it was crazily hyped and strong word of mouth made it a huge hit at the box office

even though u didnt enjoy it, many people did

i didnt even want to see it, but my friends and im pretty sure a lot of people's friends, convinced them to go see it
