I really don't think it works that way. Best Buy don't make the Steelbooks, they just commission exclusive ones.

The Steelbook version will be produced in much the same way as any other release, and then shipped to Best Buy for them to sell.

In the same way the "Amazon Exclusive" Star Wars set in the UK wasn't actually produced by Amazon.

I won’t pretend to know how it works, all I know is steelbook sets from BBY all come with finger prints, Thrones, Lotr, Blade etc., where regularly packaged discs usually don’t.

Let us know if you pull it off (having just the one disc replaced, I mean), I'm curious.

Your issue is with the dude at Technicolor who slaps the discs into the steelbooks for Warners before they get wrapped. Best Buy getting the vast majority of their steelbook releases doesn't change the fact that they never touch any disc they sell.

The manufacturer will be able to replace one disc out of a boxset.

Is the current price ($169.99) going to be the best we get for awhile?

Got this for holidays, never seen it before. Every single person says the last season is awful. Will find out soon.

The last season was not awful. It was a bit rushed, and a lot of folks were butt hurt that it didn't turn out the way they wanted. Your viewing experience will be different in that you won't be taking many years to see it all. Foreshadowing in the earlier seasons will be fresher in your mind than it was in ours, which I feel will make the total experience better for you. Regardless, you're in for a very enjoyable ride. Have fun!

Precisely. I enjoyed the final season. We'll see how it is on 2nd viewing.

That is great you enjoyed the final season, but I think it is a little more complicated than that...

"Every single person" is the very definition of hyperbole.

Yes, there was a very vocal outcry on how the series ended, from people that wanted it to end in a classic, satisfying way. Many of their stated reasons for it being bad fall flat, to me.

There are plenty of posts in just this here forum of people that do not feel that way. I don't. You would not have to look hard outside of this group to find people that are okay with the way the series ended.

Think about it—they probably wouldn't have even released the full box set on UHD if the series was universally hated.

Convince us.

No, really—I for one will listen and try to understand, if it is other than just "different than the way you wanted".

Because to me, re-watching it now (in S6) all the signs were there, the actions of various characters that ended up being front and center, pinnacle resolutions to the finale. This very much includes
[Show spoiler]Daenerys, Arya, and Bran.
I felt this way first time watching the ending as well.

That’s the narrative that people who like the final season keep pushing. They think people only dislike it because you didn’t like how it ended. Ignoring lots of people complaining about the quality of writing and the feeling of it being rushed because the creators had senioritis and wanted something else and not let anyone else show run.

Fully agree

The ending made a lot of sense to me, all of the signs were there. That said; I also loved finales like How I Met Your Mother or Lost....finales that also received a lot of hate. For me, the worst finale I've seen would be Dexter.

I am fine with where things ended in the final season. (Well most. There is a particular character that spent most of the series on a massive redemption arc that is entirely flipped 180 degrees suddenly during the last couple of eps). It’s how they got there that I thought was handled very poorly. There were episodes that felt like filler in a 6 episode season, where characters ended up/exited the series, regardless if it was foreshadowed, felt rushed and unearned. I know that last point makes it seem like “it just didnt happen the way I wanted it” not at all, in fact some I predicted where it would go but it wasnt handled very well. They hyped up “biggest battle ever” and it ended up being overlong, had idiotic battle tactics and just did not stack up to any of the battles that came before it. All of this is subjective of course, and its great there is a group that liked it, but to be dismissive of the opinion held by a fairly large majority of fans who to just simply being they didn’t get what they wanted and nothing other than that I feel is not accurate. If you read criticisms online outside of this form you will find many better articulated opinions and analysis than what I can offer myself. I am still someone who defends the series and remains a fan (that’s why I am here) but I can not justify the final season as being much other than a disappointment overall.
