Dawn of the Dead (1978) - OUT OF PRINT

I just noticed that the 4K release has The Dead Will Walk 2014 (80 min) listed on the back. Was there another version made for the old UE one?

I have a feeling it will happen, but you know what? It's not a sure thing. The Second Sight release is a sure thing, so you'll have that at least.

Even if this does come out in a north american release there's no guarantee it will be as good or complete as the Second Sight, so there's that.

I'm delighted with my S.S. release (the three soundtrack CDs... ), so if there's a U.S. release planned for DOTD, I'd have to sit down and think about it, unless the extras exclusive to that version were very tempting.

I'm happy with my Second Sight 4K boxset as well, but i will likely pick up the US release whenever it happens. Especially if it has tons of extras, since i can't watch the bonus disk due to being region locked

With the odd reaction Geek Gab gave me, and as well as my Spider-Sense going off, I'm pretty sure it's going to happen and if I was a betting man I would say expect it on October 2021 from Scream Factory. (Maybe Criterion)

Most of the hard work is already done. The restoration work is done and there are already special features that could be licensed from Severin. Now it comes down to having NEW special features, a nice box, and decent encoding. The one I'm the most worried about is encoding, but if it is Scream, then we MIGHT be OK, if they are taking this release seriously.

Do the features from the Anchor Bay Ultimate edition were from Severin? Or they did the new features for the Second Sight UK 4k?

I also hope this happens. It's been my most wanted blu title since collecting. Hopefully it would also mean that Martin gets the same treatment too considering that's under Rubinstein's thumb too.

I could picture both Romero films being with the same distributor too.

I know that the new features were done by Severin. I’m not sure if the old features are on the new release.

That's just a typo. It's the same 2004 version on the AB DVD.

A region-free player is the best investment you'll ever make, and good, easy-to-use ones can be had for under $100 by this point.

While I can't reveal my sources, I can tell with 100% certainty they are accurate. You can choose to believe me or not. Dawn of the Dead will NOT be getting a release from Arrow USA or Scream Factory. The only hope we probably have for a US release is either Vinegar Syndrome (which would be AMAZING, but I highly doubt they could afford the license) or Criterion.

If Criterion does release it, it probably wouldn't be 4K unless that changes. I'm trying my best to find out if Criterion does in fact have it, but it's a bit more of a challenge. Either way, it sounds like Rubenstein really has burnt a few bridges.

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting the Second Sight and a region free player soon.

Thanks for the info. If this proves true I will plan on getting the non-limited Second Sight release. Then if Vinegar Syndrome releases it I will double dip, although I agree this is unlikely. If Criterion releases it, no thanks.

A VS release would simply be amazing as they have proven they can do quality releases more than much larger labels. They were able to get a few titles that others weren't so, that gives me hope. However, I think the main issue is money.

However with each passing month more people are getting the Second Sight release, physical media sales are going down, and that window of opportunity for Rubenstein is shrinking. It actually sounds like a few labels simple don't want to deal with him, so there is that.

Either way, lets see what happens, but I'm pretty close to get the non limited Second Sight edition as well.
